Evenin folks 
Had an interesting ride over the hills today which featured a variety of critters...first up was the nesting buzzard which dive bombs me every time i pass, today it flew so close to my head i felt the air pressure from its wings through the helmet vents.... On to Pittentrail [rogart] and sat down with a drink when suddenly.... thousands of bees appeared like a biblical swarm, i couldnt compute at first what the hell was going on 
but hoped a huge swarm looking for a new home wouldnt be in stinging mode!
Riding home on a lane with a large rabbit population a hunting family of stoats ran every which way and i nearly ran one over
Alongside loch Brora i was pleased to see an adult osprey and further along two youngsters, good news

Good evening. We have returned. WOW! What a hard drive it was from Oban to Glasgow. Followed a small line of traffic behind a tanker of some sort for perhaps 30 miles, all at 30 - 40mph. Constant gear changes, lots of concentration. Then we got to Loch Lomond where the road twists alongside the Loch. It was bright and sunny along with deep shade making it really hard to see the road, oncoming traffic etc. I made it to Hamilton when Mrs P had to takeover so I could sleep before taking the wheel again at Carlisle.
I'm nackered. Time for tea though. Baked potato, tuna and cheddar. Mrs P has gone to bed already. I'm going to find a film to watch.

Multi-tasking at this time of day!
I watched Rod Stewart at Glastonbury on the Beeb, and I am listening to the radio at the moment.
I'm also 180 pages into the book I got from the library today. The latest Rebus novel from Ian Rankin, I can't put it down. I'll read some more when I go to bed.

Wow - that was unexpected!!
went for a ride
decided to do normal ride along the canal but backwards so towards Warrington first
across the ship canal and Mersey and then back along the Bridgewater canal
Then over the Runcorn Wides bridge and home
which was fine - mileometer was just ticking over to 18 as I got to the bridge
and a Police car came along on the wrong side of the road and waved me down
No - they have not found out about anything
apparently there was a "Police Incident" on the bridge and they could not allow anyone on the bridge at all
an older bloke came along and was argueing that he only lived in the West End (biy below teh bridge in Widnes - there are some significant differences to the one in London - so he should be allowed to walk there
but the copper was not having it
anyway I pulled off back off the bridge to stop and ring SWMBO so she would know why I was late
and this bloke comes over and he is saying how it is ridiculous and he should be allowed to walk home as .........
anyway - I comment that it sounds to me like a jumper or something similar as the copper said it could be closed for 5 minutes or 3 hours
but he was unimpressed
seems like he thought that someone's life being in danger was nothing compared to him getting home for his tea!!!
Anyway - after checking trains (none starter) I was left with 2 option
1a - ride around for a bit - maybe get a drink then go back and see if there is an update
1B - same but have something to eat as well
or
2 - just ride back the way I came all the way round
now there was a problem as my normal route is on canal paths i.e. no lighting and it does go through a few dodgy areas
OK in the daylight but possibly not in the dark
and it was gone 8 p.m.
and the roads around Runcorn are a pain in the whatsit on a bike as every sign points you to a major dual carriageway - of which there are 3 - all designed to get cars away from the town as soon as possible
on a bike you have to navigate using The Force (or Google Maps - which is pretty much the same)
and although I had a phone I didn;t have a handlebar mount or headphones
so I decided to bite the bullet and just ride back
got back about 9 o'clock which is by far the fastest I have done that route!!
so total mileage 38 miles!!!

Yes - it is great
mine even works if the traffic stops and restarts
very easy to drive in traffic - also means I can concentrate on what is happening round me and avoid the idiots

I have been dead set against them all my life, preferring to be in control of gear changes myself, but for the last couple of years I am warming to changing to automatic if I ever change my car. Maybe it’s an age thing, but it does feel like it would allow me to concentrate more on the road.
Morning. After one of the most horrendous spells of binge eating I’ve ever had yesterday, I don’t even feel like getting dressed this morning. It’s incredibly humid and my body feels so swollen I don’t even want to put clothes on.
