Morning. Overcast and windy with a fair bit of rain to come. I might just about manage a walk before it arrives.

On checking the council website it appears we pay a lot. I didn’t even realise there was a water charge plus a waste water charge!

WOW! That's expensive. I didn't know Scotland included water in the Council Tax charge. If this was our property*** we would be in Band H. Here, in sunny Chorley, we pay council tax of £2330 + water at £656 = £2986, nearly £2000 more in your part of Scotland. I can understand the justification for banding council tax but water? I'm not so sure. It should be based on usage not property value.

*** we're in a two bed cottage valued at +/- £325000

TBF.....its Bass. Mr Numbnuts tells us you can get fresh water Bass. We eat Bass from the sea......surely then it makes it Sea Bass as against fresh water Bass.
Yes, I'll sit on the fence. I see both views. Thing is we only have bass from the sea so is there a need to distinguish between (freshwater) bass and sea bass? Not only is this a first world problem, it's a pensioner problem   A friend once said to me, "Never upset a retired person. They've got all the time in the world to complain."

Good morning. That's the world sorted out! A lovely cool morning here, the only downside is I've been awake since 3.00am. Why is it I can go for two or three weeks sleeping till 5.00 - 6.00am and suddenly for no good reason I start waking at 3.00am??? Another first world issue??

Well, today? Mrs P has her treatment and I have a session with my PT. I've asked her to discuss diet. I know I can do better but need a firm kick in the right direction. That aside I have many little errands to run/chores to do. I still have the allotment grass to cut, need to get a hair cut, do the u3a banking, buy some vegetables, visit B&Q.

I've had boiled eggs and toast for breakfast. Now this is a PROBLEM. A REAL problem. Paul is upset. Eggs. What is it with WHITE eggs? Why do I suddenly find white eggs all over the place as though it's something special. I want brown eggs and don't want to open every friggin' box until I find some. Mr Tesco, I'm talking to you! Really when and why have white eggs suddenly become a thing.

Think I'll bob off and be grumpy now.......:laugh:

Good morning all.
Another sunny start to the day here, with temperatures due to get up to around 30⁰C later on.
MrsP is filling in for a few days where she used to work at the rehoming centre. The nurse there needs some time off, so super sub has been called in.
There might be a meeting of the escape committee this afternoon, but it's all a bit quiet so I'm not sure if there is or isn't.

I can remember a time when nearly all eggs were white. Brown eggs were a special treat.
I presume, rightly or wrongly that it depends on the species of hen and the diet they are on.

Just to throw a spanner in the works the word Bass comes from middle english and means Perch though it's not related to the Bass family...

Just dug this up.
I personally think brown eggs look nicer/firmer (in the shell) but the 'experts' say there is no difference.

No, there is no nutritional or taste difference between brown and white eggs. The color of the eggshell is determined by the breed of the hen, with white hens laying white eggs and brown hens laying brown eggs.

Here's a more detailed explanation:

    • Breed determines color:

    • Different breeds of chickens lay eggs with different shell colors.
    • No nutritional difference: Both brown and white eggs contain the same nutritional value and have the same taste.
    • No flavor difference: The color of the shell does not affect the taste of the egg.
    • External factors: Factors like the hen's diet and environment can influence the egg's nutritional content and flavor, but these factors are not related to the shell color.
