Good morning all.
Raining here but no wind to speak of and forecast is for a bright sunny afternoon.
No real plans as yet.

Morning folks cycling wont be on the agenda today thats for sure! I get bored stuck indoors...my dvd's have been watched and re-watched and having only a few things that interest me..same thing with books. Bike maintenance is up to date with everything clean/oiled/adjusted, garden has been planned, not too difficult when its pocket sized hmmm guess i'll wander up to the charity shop, thats my highlight of the day!

Salut. Picking up 2 great grand children at 11 and try to keep them busy till time to go back home at 3.30. Luckily,they are easy to entertain and Mrs G is pretty good at it.
A bit windy and wet today.

Morning all

Farmer, across the way, decided to combine his field at 0530 yesterday morning! Less than 100yds from our bedroom window. I know that they have to get work done but I thought it was a bit anti social on a Sunday morning, especially as the forecast was good for all day yesterday.
Off to Tesco in Minehead this morning and dropping in to Tool Zone on the way back to pick up some threaded bar.

Wet and windy and no not my shorts. Still it's good fo rthe garden apparently. The lawn looking very parched in places.
Due to brighten up by early afternoon but weights today as I rode Sat and Sun.

Van goes for its MOT today. I cant drive for another 2 weeks yet so Mrs D will drive and I'll sit in the passenger seat projecting an invisible force field around the van as she drives along.

My wife is 'retiring early' in a couple of weeks......... well, selling her business (her & another woman own it), then there's the balance of what's in the bank, the sale of the (100% owned) office
I'm wondering if I can go to work 7 days a week

She wants me to retire now
I had expected to go to 'full term', she says "no"

I've offered a couple of options to her
1. See what I can do on my 60th (later this year)
2. Get to 30 years service, if I manage to last that long (currently on 28 years & 5 months)

If your finances stack up there's only one choice. Retire. These can be the best years of your life.

Indeed. That's what I did. All the numbers looked good, and I had a decent company pension so I went at 60.
If you can go early it gives you quite a few extra years to enjoy life whist your health is still good.

Check what the difference is and the details of the retirement fund

When I was having trouble with my new boss I checked it out and found that I only "lost" a very small amount by retiring a couple of year earlier on my main pension

and in fact the secondary pension (that was still active) would pay out more if I retired within a few months than if I stayed on until60
OK - that was a weird set of circumstance
but it pay to check the details early

Oh - and some allow you to go part time for a while before retiring properly without loosing out

Better batten down the hatches for tomorrow’s storm. Hopefully the met office are just playing safe and it will be nothing more than a bit of wind and rain.

Whatever it is, if you could just keep it up there in your area, and, dont let it drift South, that would be much appreciated 😂

We have the grand kids - they stayed overnight

The little one has been learning how to be naughty from his cousin (less said the better!) and we have had to have a "little chat" with him a few times
His Gran does this by shouting
I do it by a long quiet talk while forcing him to look me in the eyes at the same level

I think he hates mine more!!


AND we have "the man" around from EDF changing the electric meter
which - horror or horrors - will mean the wifi will stop working soon - not sur ehow the elder 2 kids will cope!!)
