Interesting, until now I always thought that the Irish sea finished just below Anglesey and it was the Pacific that flowed all along West Wales.
Mr Google has just cleared that up for me (78 years late but hey ho).

Partially when the law was changed to allow up to £300 worth of goods to be removed without payment, unless violence was involved, before they get involved.
That and people feeling that shoplifting was a victimless crime. I've spent four evenings in hospital after being attacked at work.

Technically then law wasn't change. The dibble have dwindling resources and increasing workloads so have little choice but to prioritise, and some (not all) use a value based calculation.

My old farce do it on an evidende based assessment. Does the staff member know the suspects name? Is their CCTV that clearly shows their face, selection of goods and concealment of goods, and then passing the point of payment? If the answer is "no" its an evidential dead end and pointless sending a bobby that could be used elsewhere, such as hassling people for airing a legal opinion on X.

People get confused besause theft below falue £200 and theft above have different charging codes, but the law itself is still the same for both (the theft act) and theoretically the punishment can be the same, although sentencing 'guidelines' tend to treat it on a sliding scale.

I've spent four evenings in hospital after being attacked at work.

I was beaten up 5 times while shopping in our local Aldi.
Mind you, that was my wife on each occasion and nothing happened as the local bobby was afraid of her.

It very much depends on how much one can afford. I went to Boots for my first hearing test. The audiologist fitted several pairs for me to try. They were all very good, the things one could do with the £3000 pair were mind-blowing, no doubt even more so five years later.

I said I'd stick with the NHS ones only to be told Boots don't do NHS aids. I went to Specsavers!!!

My NHS aids are Bluetooth and do all I need. They don't connect to the TV. They would be brilliant if that could be done.

The rechargeable thing begs the question what to do when they're charging??

One of my drinking pals has just paid £4000 for hearing aids at Boots. (I dont think our Friday evening "putting the world to rights" are worth that much, personally) 😂

Done walking, I nearly went trike riding, but I would have to unlock the garage, unlock the trike, blow tyres up, replace battery, put helmet on and relock garage...........maybe tomorrow.........
