Good morning all.
Not a bad start to the day, there is some high cloud, but like a lot of the country we might get some heavy showers later on this afternoon.
Our son is calling round at some point after work, he is playing squash for his club, so will need feeding. I am planning toad in the hole, onion gravy, mash green beans and carrots. :hungry:

Hello strangers 😎
Well, I tried to make the best of the recent weather on the IOW - 3 dips in the sea, one blustery bike ride - but the weather is turning.
Thundery showers forecast, just as we have more visitors willing to do gardening due today 😳
Still mild temperatures.
Might have to visit more cafes instead 🫣
I have a plan to lay an old patio we picked up stones for, using a method of soil-stabilised base - essentially do away with aggregate base and instead mix cement in with soil 🤓 Could be a disaster, but we figure it’s worth a try 🤷‍♂️

Morning.
Heavy rain and blustery winds here although due to clear in an hour.
Tip run then later a haircut and pick up eldest from train station. Might through in a ride inbetween if it dries sufficiently.

Looks like rain today
different site say different things
but proper rain around lunchtime seems certain

good for the grass anyway - there are a lot of brown patches!!

we got a new garden hoover/blower yesterday - it was reduced

the old one still works but the mice got at the bag a few years ago so the hoovery bit won;t work anymore
also the shredding part of it was a plastic fan thing which is no longer much uses
the new one has a metal one instead so should last longer

so SWMBO had me hoovering up all the dead leaves after it came
as I finished getting up the last few leaves and put everything away - and locked the shed
3 more leaves floated gently down onto the lawn!!

anyone else think the leaves are falling very early this year??

Yes, I think the long dry spell has affected things. Even although we have quite a bit of rain forecast for the next couple of weeks, I think it will be too late to make much difference now.

Riverside trail walked and ended up meeting a guy I know and chummed him along for the last couple of miles. He didn't have his dog as she's not up to a decent walk now. Poor thing seems ok physically but has developed what appears to be doggy dementia and has lost interest in walking and her food.

The 2 girls along the road have the removal lorries loading up their furniture to move away up north to Aboyne. I wasn't particularly friendly with them, but I enjoyed our chats as they are keen cyclists and nature lovers too. I googled the property they are moving to and it looks fantastic. Lovely old cottage with a big garden and a garden room for use as an office. There's a walking/cycling path running along the foot of their garden. Like me, I think they were growing tired of how busy it's got around here.

Good morning folks. Just got back from my run and managed to doge the rain that's just started. Daughter and grandson have been visiting over the last couple of weeks. She's got an electric car and brought her " Granny Charger " with her. For those who don't know it's a low power charger that is restricted to 10A and can be plugged into a regular 13A domestic socket. I've been chucking the cable out of the kitchen window and doing an overnight 5 hour timed charge using Octopus Go tariff at 8.5p per kWh. Even with all the local driving it has got the car battery up to 97%. Anyway, the car is a VW ID3 which is on one of these lease schemes. She messaged me last night to say that she'd got a puncture as she was leaving her sisters place. She rang the RAC who arrived within 15 minutes and towed the car to the nearest Quik Fit to our house, then arranged for a taxi to bring her the rest of the way. They will also arrange a taxi to take her to collect the car when the puncture is repaired / new tyre fitted. This is all included in the monthly lease which was reassuring to hear.
She's off to work at one of the local festivals this coming week end then back to Leeds on Monday. Mrs Tkk will be taking granddaughter back to London on the train tomorrow so next week we will have our house back😁
