Good morning from gloriously sunny Amble. We are nicely settled in our Airbnb home for a few days. It's a tiny fisherman's cottage, end of terrace meaning none of the rooms have four 90⁰ degree corners. We both thought Amble was a small fishing village, it turns out to be quite a large town. No matter, we're comfy.

I think today's plan will be to walk to Warkworth Castle, explore and return. It's only 1½ miles there and back but I've found a circular 6 mile route. I'm not sure if Mrs P is up to that. I'll inquire later.

En route yesterday we stopped to visit Vindolanda, a very significant Roman fort which has been heavily excavated. Very interesting. Brought back memories as it's just off NCN 68, the Pennine Cycleway which runs from Derby to Berwick-on-Tweed. I rode this +/- 25 years ago, possibly on a Marin hybrid, I'm not sure about that. It's a fabulous route though some sections are brutal. The bit round Vindolanda was very tough. It's a Roman road, straight as an arrow and simply goes up and down over every rise in the landscape. The sort of road any sensible local cyclist avoids at all costs!!!!

Oh yes I seem to have been banned from a Facebook group - at least I'm on "post approval". I'm not sure why. It's a u3a group, people express views I disagree with but I never comment as the organisation is both non-political and non-religious. I'm happy to respect this. In fact the posts I disagree with shouldn't be permitted according to the rules.

I've messaged the admin and I'll be interested to see what I've done or even if there's a reply. I did make the mistake of commenting on a thread about Angela Rayner but that was elsewhere - on Threads.

Good morning all.
I have been a good boy this morning as I avoided my cuppa AND CC until my main jobs were done.
So, bed is stripped and washing machine is on the go.
Dishes are soaking in the bowl, I will wash them shortly.
Now I'm sat down with my cuppa n biscuit while listening to Smooth radio-some good music so far.
Oh.....cleaner is due at 10.00.

Dry, sunnish and looks a decent day.
Cutting the grass todays priority, after what seems like months it's growing again and needs a mow.
I rode yesterday and will tomorrow so weights is todays exercise plan.
Washing is on to also take advantage of the weather.

Life in the fast lane....

DONT PANIC MR MAINWARING !!!
You may (or not) recall that my dishwasher 'packed in' only fot me to find out it was the fuse.
Well, I just went in the kitchen only to find it was again dead.
Dug a new fuse out and was about to locate the plug (not easy with my gammy legs) when my SiL decided to press the start/stop button.
Turns out it had finished its job and gone into sleep mode....duh

Years ago I had a BMW thet kept flashing bulb failure warnings on the dash.

Id spent moths taking it apart and swearing and thought I'd licked the problem, only for the warning to appear again.

So I spent and hour taking the dash apart again...only to discover I did actually have a bulb out that time. Doh!

Morning again.

I took the car over to Dunning (the village I'm from originally) and did a walk there for a change. I was originally only going to do an out and back along a quiet little road, but it was such a gorgeous morning I decided to carry on a do a longer loop. I've cycled it several times but that's the first time I've done it on foot.

First 3 miles are flat/downhill then the next 6 are an almost constant climb then it tapers off before finishing with a steep downhill back to the village. Hard going, but very enjoyable.
