Suppose I’d better get out for my wander. Been sitting here since 5.30. Looks like being a decent day.

I’ll just do my 4.3 mile riverside trail just now as I’ll be walking again later with my old neighbour.

Meal out tonight which will be nice.

Morning all

Looking decent but there so we'll get out for a walk before lunch.
Main road from Watchet to Minehead is closed for resurfacing today and is causing chaos. It would help if the road from Watchet to Blue Anchor was open - but it was permanently closed 2 years ago due to fears of land slippage. It was the only alternative route and it's become a bit of a political hot potato.
'They' reckoned it would cost £72M to build an alternative, when all they need to do is buy up one field and move 100yds of road inland by about 30yds. A temporary fix could be done for a few hundred thousand but 'they' have dug their heels in, put their fingers in their ears and stuck to their guns.
The issue is causing a lot of aggravation locally.

Riverside trail walked and just had beans on toast for breakfast. My friends are coming along at 9.30 for a walk so I'll be back out again. I wasn't expecting them to be so early. No matter....it'll save me from sitting on my bum at the computer for ages like I often do after breakfast.

This morning I visit the optician. A new one (to me) and he has lots of good reviews.
I should know then if I need better specs or the dreaded cataract op. I must say, reading of MrsD's exploits has helped on that front.
I shall report back on the matter later.

Fecks sake. Margaret just messaged to say they are ready and will leave at 8.45. She does that nearly every time. Says a time then comes early and you feel rushed at the last minute. This is why I love living on my own. I can't cope with other peoples foibles.

MrsD needs to have her other eye done.
She says she can't wait for it and would have it done today if it was possible.
It's amazed me because she was a bit squeamish about having anything touching her eyes. Not anymore!

Did she get a choice of replacement lens? I think most people go for the distance lens and still need glasses for reading?

Mrs D has a job interview later. Made her a light breakfast or she'll have the empty tummy butterflies.

Same job as before, director of business for an academy trust, but for a local one instead of the far side of MK. If she gets it that'll save her 90 minutes a day on the commute, or to put it another way the equivalent of a working day each week.
