The bike is in the car , ready for the trip to Yorkshire tomorrow and the weather still looks good.

We are in for a few chilly nights up here but nice and dry. Perfect.

Just watching the Freddy Fintoff cricket thingy

apparently some of the kids are having trouble with the hard cricket ball
they are worried about getting hurt

I mentioned to SWMBO that when we started in Secondary school we started playing cricket

with the proper ball
but we did have proper protection
ONE pad
no second pad for us bottom of the range players
no helmet - no-one did even at test level
no box - it was recommend that you just hit the ball with your bat before it hit you in the whatsits!!

As far as I remember no-one died - or even got hurt

There has been an object on the overhead cables at Milton Keynes..........our train is running late which means our only hope of a train to Chorley is the last one of the day......now that's not a risk worth taking.

Time to call in a favour from #1 son who lives in Manchester. Phew.

Evenin folks a soggy old day here in Brora which stopped play on my gardening project...boo.. Anyhow nearly finished edging the borders and have the gurt big tree stump to install to put my bird bath on. I havent a bird table/feeder but have a cunning plan....find some washed up branches on the beach and screw them onto the stump to hang feeders to. The neighbours have just gotten used to my bodged garden bench so my latest eccentric creation wont be a surprise!

I broke a school friends wrist playing cricket.. We both ran to catch a ball that had been lofted high.. We were both looking at it, not where we were running. We met at speed. I caught it. He got a free trip to hospital 🏏

Well, caught up (over far too much wine 🫣) with my pal and his wife last night….today we head to Barnstaple to start our little cycle-camp adventure. Weather looks so promising I’m not even taking my waterproof trousers 🙏
