Just found out Daughter #3's FiL died last night. Possible heart attack. A neighbour bravely tried CPR to no avail.

Nice guy, we got on well, and he thought the world of my lass, as I do his lad. Only 60, 2 1/2 years older than me. He seemed chipper and lively at his 60th Brithday party in July. I guess there'll be a funeral in the coming weeks.

Good morning. It's a beautiful autumnal day in Lancashire. It's chilly though at 6⁰. I put the heating on, the boiler is flashing a fault and the reset button had no effect. I doubt it's serious, I just need to find the manual. This will take more time than I've got this morning.

And to top it all, the World Conker Championships in Northamptonshire has been cancelled due to the small size of the conkers this year ☹️

I is back.
Dentist can't see me till Thursday pm. TBF I am not in any pain, just have (what feels like) a crater where the filling was.
A beautiful day......while looking out from my lounge.
My flat/house extension thingy has always been colder than the main house. This means putting the heating on 1st thing on these cool mornings. It soon warms up though then is quite cozy.
I have a bird feeder station outside my patio door and I have just been watching a Nuthatch, a very handsome bird. It's very busy out there as there are also Bluetits, Great tits, LTTits and of course lots of Sparrows.

Watched a documentary on BBC iPlayer last night " Confessions of a Brain Surgeon ". I found it both moving and uplifting and certainly worth a watch.

Just checked the oil and all the fluid levels on the car, the only one needed was the screen wash
pumped up the tyres including the spare

I know some PE teachers can get really competitive, and expect those they're teaching to be similar, but to break someone's wrist just to get the ball is going a bit too far.

I broke a lads leg playing cricket, albeit accidentally as I fell.

Bone was sticking out, much screaming. This was the days before mobile phones so the teacher, a hulking great Pat Roach like feller called Mr Wilkes, sent a lad for a stretcher snd when he returned asked me to help him.

Aids had just been invented, and with all the blood and everything I couldn't help but say, "but Sir, I dont want to catch aids."

To which Mr Wilkes replied, " youll f****** need first aid if you dont help me get him on this stretcher!"

Point taken, I decided catching aids was preferable to a smack from Mr Wilkes.

Back from the dog walk, garden centre morning. A selection of spring bulbs have been bought, daffodils, tulips, crocus and snowdrops plus a few seeds for next year that were discounted.
I have taken my runner beans down, they were finished for the year but the climbing french beans still have some late flowers on. If the frost holds off for a few more weeks I might get another dinner out of them.

Cricket seems to be a singularly dangerous pastime. I was never injured physically whilst playing cricket at school, but, I contend my Maths results suffered.

My Maths teacher (Mr Dixon) was a keen cricket player.

As a result, he also took some "sports lessons", if cricket was involved.

I was a reluctant participant in any sport.

One day, I had been instructed to take up a fielding position (to me) uncomfortably near the batsman.

Sure enough, a few balls later, said batsman wacked a ball in my general direction, at roughly head height.

"CATCH BOY" bellowed Mr Dixon, at me.

I ducked.

He never forgave me, and took every opportunity to pick fault with my work from then on. 😂

Just had an enjoyable walk through the park**. Saw a butterfly and several bees pollinating .....lovely.
Finished off by sitting in the garden enjoying an iced coffee.
** some b*stard has dumped this in the park........
