Morning folks :okay: Ventured onto the A9 again yesterday...i really shouldnt, a car shaved past me and nearly hit an oncoming, the driver that had to take evasive action happened to be a cyclist and turned around to have a chat. He said he avoided the A9 because of the danger and i agreed. Note to self...avoid the damn A9!

Bruce walked. Still taking it easy with him after his limping so an hour long stroll along Hardingstone, through the Warren, down Houghton Hill and then back through Brackmills to home. @PeteXXX knows where im at.

I'm like walking the industrial estate at the weekend. Its Q, has an almost post apocalyptic feel.

Stopped raining but still samp out there. Forecast is to turn cold from tonight.

Yep.. I know that route well.
I like the original roads, before the estate was built, that still exist as ped/bike paths.

Mrs Tkk and I watch " Highland Cops " which is a fly on the wall documentary series about the day to day goings on in the remoter parts of Scotland. Last week's episode included a RTA on the A9, certainly a road to avoid. Lots of mountain rescue stuff and dodgy dealings in Inverness too. 😁

I like the old roads and features. I was chatting to a lady the other day who is in the Hardingstone history society and she was telling me our bit is built on the site of an old iron age settlement. I know about 50 yards from my house there was a fever hospital in past times.

I think of all touring cyclists who come up this way to enjoy the highlands but are putting themselves at risk. Theres nothing wrong with the road of course...its impatient [stupid] drivers and the dangerous overtaking scenario's can happen on any road anytime. Much safer on the single tracks. :okay:

Between Pitlochry and Inverness there's NCN 7. A bit safer than the main road but still very noisy. I think there's also a cycle route from Pitlochry to Perth but I've never tried it. To the south there's a few quieter back roads you can use. North of Inverness it's not so good with even single track roads being used as race tracks.

Well that was a pain

Started off and whenever I put any pressure on the pedals the gears slipped

I presumed it was a sticky link that would free up and it went on but it just got worse

I presume the chain and gears change need cleaning after the muddy ride a few days ago - I did clean it but didn;t do the chain fully

so I will give that a go and re-oil the chain!
