Good morning. I was rushed to get out this morning. Wet and warm here. I'm sat in a nice cafe in Ormskirk with a very good flat white.

I'm now the very excited owner of a Cervelo Caledonia 5. Happy Christmas to Silly Granddad.

Next task is to find a Christmas present for Mrs P.

Very pleased for you Paul. I well remember the pleasure when I got my chosen Ribble carbon. Even choosing the tyres was exciting.

Just been out in the car to the farm shop

coming back I was turning out of a side road onto a bigger road with a bus route on it

Just as I got to the T-junction a bloke in a mini pulled and parked
he was about 3 meters from the junction
and about 5-6 feet out FROM THE DOUBLE YELLOW LINES!!!

I.E.blocking the whole of that side of the road - and the bus that was just coming up behind him

He happily got out and walked to the pavement and wandered towards me and crossed the side road behind me with a card in his hand - I presume he was going to post it

probably the worst parking I have seen in a LONG time

the bus driver and I exchanged some unbelieving shrugs and he let me out so I could get past on teh far side of the road - once the oncoming cars had passed
I presume he had to wait until the bloke posted his card and got back to his car before he could continue on his route!

Rather strangely as a cyclist I find there is a positive improvement in drivers' awareness of and attitude towards cyclists. I realise this isn't necessarily a majority view.

On the other hand as a driver I think there are more and more utter d1ckheads who just shouldn't be on the road.

Yesterday I was getting ready to move from the middle to inside lane on the motorway. Checked my nearside mirror, some child is approaching at high-speed to undertake. He had overtaken the same vehicle as me and couldn't wait for me to move over. I had 12 month old #3SP in a seat next to me.

This morning stopped at a roundabout to turn right. The exit to my left is stationary due to temporary lights. Driver to my right indicates left and then goes straight on. Next driver, taxi "professional" 🤣 driver, pulls up behind him blocking the roundabout and all of us who want to turn right!!!!

If I need to join a road I no longer trust indicators and wait to see the approaching vehicle's wheels turn left or right. I've also started driving 20 or less in many urban situations.

I see that sort of thing a lot when we go to pick the grand kids up - people just don;t seem to be able to see how their intended actions will affact others and modify them to reduce the impact

It points to a very self centred attitude.
I have always considered that cyclists are better - not because they are better people - but just because the possibility of "bad things" is clearer so they look forward a lot more
