The very last ride of the year this afternoon about 50 miles with a good friend of mine, we connect the comms in our helmets so manage to have a nice natter whilst we ride. tomorrow I’ll wash all the salt off.

We both had a trial fit of our luggage ready for our French trip in April.

Mrs Tkk is currently heating up some " Bang Bang Cauliflower " from M&S. I have knocked up some peri peri rice and melted some grated cheese into it, added a splash of soy sauce and a spoonful of Mrs Darlington's extra jam ginger jam. Worked really well 😎
I've also been playing with a " Flir " thermal camera that Octopus sent to use for a week. Good fun and quite useful, found a place on the back door where the weather seal is failing. Traced the central heating pipes under the floor and can see why the cat who visits from time to time likes to lie there.

Last hospital day of 2025 completed yesterday. Ambulatory was very busy and all patients were upbeat. Probably as 2025 was a crap year for them and it is coming to an end. 🙂

A pheasant topped itself on the front grill of our car yesterday. Going to be £270 to replace the grill and recalibrate the radar sensor. Grrr! ☹️

Have a good day all.

Was the pheasant still in a suitable condition to roast?

Whilst you have it check the house from outside for any hotspots. The radiators for cold spots and your fridge. Also useful for checking the oven is heating evenly.

Barnet,
Good morning all.
A cold frosty start to the day here.
A few things to do today that will involve getting out on the bike for a while.
As its the last day of the month I must read the meters and send the readings off to Octopus. I refuse to have smart meters fitted.

You’ll eventually have no alternative I think. I was extremely reluctant too, but with storage heaters that would no longer switch on and off properly once the long wave radio signal is switched off, I had no choice. Have to say, it worked perfectly from the day it was fitted.

Smart meters were fitted to ours and they upgraded the supply cable from the Supply fuse to the meters as it was over 70 years old and getting a bit crumbly ( a bit like me I suppose 🤔).
Having a smart meter gives access to various tariffs which has certainly saved us a fair bit of money.

Cooooeee. What a difference a day makes. -3 here.

Like Mo I only had a smart meter put in last month as I to have storage heaters and the stopped working properly.

Stay safe peeps :hello:

It's similar here too, I am on my second cup of coffee and toasty with my legs under the Duvet. Pondering if having a slice of the Yule log that Mrs Tkk got from M&S yesterday would be too decadent? It was left on the kitchen worktop next to the bread bin instead of being put away out of sight...
