Along with most building trades, accountants, solicitors, estate agents and dentists the prices quoted are often absolute *iss takes.

Was quoted £500 plus materials to replace 4 ridge tiles on our bungalow.

Took me just under 2 hours to do it myself.

Today, Mrs SD had a deep clean at the dentist that took 12 minutes - just over £100!

Yesterday I was told about a guy i used to be friendly with who had his roof renewed. The roofer quoted £9K but agreed on £6K (this is a standard 3 bed semi). When it was finished he paid and LATER ON realised it was a mess.
He got 2 ex roofers** to have a look and they both said it's a write off, has to be ripped off and re-done.
**my ex friend and the other 2 are retired and can't help him.

Good day all.
A cold one today, just 1° right now.
Mr Fixit did a lot of fiddle electrics yesterday, moving sockets and putting extras in.
I changed my ceiling light to LED...all I can say is WoW !!!. What an improvement. So much that I will do the same in the kitchen and garage.
He is back today, again doing lots of small jobs.
Right.....I have another coffee to make

Gunk eats what my food eats!

Yesterday, on a whim, at Aldi I spotted and bought 2 large peppered burgers. I had 1 last night in a bun.....it was lovely. I make my own which are nice (and healthy) but these were juicy, naughty and nice.

Sofa delivery day here, & then a pub dinner with friends before heading back up north tomorrow.
That will ring up pub number 30 in my brave & selfless efforts to save pubs by visiting 31 in January 💪
Not always for alcohol, sometimes coffee or soft drinks, before you start worrying about me being an alcoholic 🍻
& only one visit on my own (when the girls were shopping!) 🫣

Yes, memorable for me for all the wrong reasons. Mrs P went ahead to buy tickets. I wandered in to discover she was being sold today's "special offer." Joint membership for +/- £130. I objected, words were exchanged. Mrs P declared we would use it a lot and it was great value and we would get free parking in lots of places

This simmered throughout the vist, coming to the boil at one point.

The membership remained unused for the year and wasn't renewed. I have never mentioned this again.........but haven't forgotten!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Another sunny warm day is forecast here.
I need to go to the Spar for some milk for my morning tea, then it will be relaxing by the pool and a dip in the Atlantic ocean.
Life can be hard at times. 😁
