When my family moved in and I moved into the flat I phoned Virgin (my current supplier) and told them I was leaving.
They.........
Put a separate box thingy in the flat
Gave me a bigger package (ooh erhh matron)
And reduced my cost by (i think) £20+.

Worth phoning that nice chap x 1000s of miles away in India/Pakistan.

Maybe - advantage of that is that we keep the current box and all the things my wife we have recorded

Disadvantage - makes it look like I have fallen for their marketing "strategy" and it has been successful

Just got an email from Virgin Media

apparently my "specila promotional discount" is ending soon
and after that the amount I pay per month goes from £74 a month - over £200 a month


i.e. an increase of nearly 300% (can;t be bothered to check the exact percentage!)


so - apparently Sky have a stall in Warrington - looks like a trip to Golden Square in on the cards!

Looking on the Virgin website - I could get a similar deal to the one I have for about £60 - plus a bit for a speed upgrade

Basically they are just trying to rip people off if they are not in a position to faff about - i.e. vulnerable people

That's a big increase!

What on Earth are the services provided that warrant £200pm?

I've got a TP Link router with monthly 30 quid data sim from Amazon, unlimited Internet access. So much simpler.

No disadvantage imo. Treat it as a win win for you.

My car was overdue a run. It only just started. I drove over to my old village and visited dad’s neighbour. I must try and use it a bit more often.

A couple of showers on the way over. Hopefully get another wander soon. Just finished bacon and egg for lunch.

My car, 1600 Astra petrol, is due for MOT next week.
Engine warning light is on AGAIN.
They say it's because I do only local journeys and the exhaust gets clogged with soot.

I do that occasionally. Its an auto so has 'kick down' so can give it a quick blast. Obviously mine needs more va va vroom.

I would not worry about that, since just about all, if not all, broadband suppliers operate in the same way.

Like Motor Insurance Companies, it appears to be lunacy, but, they all do it. 😂
