I know I will definitely be in the minority, but I've never been in a plane.

I reached the age of 32 without ever being in a plane. Then, I changed jobs, for one which involved a lot of travel. My first “outing” was Newcastle - London Heathrow - Helicopter transfer to Gatwick - New Orleans - Mexico City - Veracruz. Rather a baptism of fire 😂-

It's 'Pick up the grandson from school day' today..

Got your dirty mac on?

True story. Im so disreputable looking that once while I was waiting outside the school to collect Mini D #3 someone thought I looked dodgy and called the police on me! A quick flash of my warrant card put the Bobby's mind at rest.

If that wasnt bad enough, about 15 years later it happened again with Mini D #4 outside a difrerent school! Id been long retired by then but fortunately the bobby that turned up remembered me from the job.

Similar situation here. I had never flown until my mid forties. I changed jobs and had to fly to Germany. It must have been obvious as the guy next to me asked "is this your 1st time flying......dont worry you will be fine". It must have been my white knuckles that gave me away.

A couple of schools that I taught at - if a smart and well groomed person turned up to pick their kid up from school
they would be the ones we would have been worried about!!!

Mind you - any "funny business" and we would just have to mention it to the kids of one of the local drug dealers and he would sort it out - we would not have done that - probably

It was one of those "everyone knows" things that the Police could never get evidence for

but at least he did make damn sure no-one dealt drugs near the school in term time so not all bad!!!

later on we had another contact - one of the Teaching Assistant's cousin who was later "done" for drug dealing so bad that it was on teh 10 o'clock News!!!
Apparently the family had 2 sides - one that drove around in porche and Bentleys and lived in big houses
and one half that just about got by with jobs like TA and the similar pay - but refused to have anycontact with the drug empire
The TA was on the poorer side
but she still went to the parties at "the big house"

Slightly weird play at times

On my way to see my clients this morning, the route took me alongside the Bridgewater canal - the same canal I often ride along

but a few miles further on from my normal turning point

Now - last few weeks i have been following the amazing progress at the canal breach in Cheshire near the Llangollen canal junction

and I was glancing over at the canal and realised that the water level was above the road level
and the bank was not that high between them

and on my left was a row of nice looking houses that had gardens LOWER than the road - I was almost looking direct into the bedroom windows!

So it that little embankment go breached then the whole canal would rush across and into the houses and their gardens

and that canal is very long and has NO locks to interfere with the water flowing down until someone turns up to put stop logs into place to slow it down

I would worry about buying any house in that position!!!

But someone has to pay to repair the leaks that have already been paid to be repaired but the money given to shareholders instead.

You see

that sort of sarcasm just misses the point

It is high flying share holders and senior managers like them that keep this country going

If they did not get their due pay for the huge amount of hard work they do then they would leave the company
and probably the country

and then the Chancellor would have to cope without the taxes that they would pay if they didn;t have a good accountant to avoid it!!

These people are the foundation of the wealth of this country as it trickles down to "The People"
that is just basic economics

(warning - post may contain sarcasm)

Finally a dry sunny day here today, had a great morning out on my motorbike, visited the control tower at Greenham Common which I thoroughly recommend.
