Right - I'm awake - been up fo half an hour or so

I think I am doing an AgeUK thing at lunchtime - at an independant living place near here

Just found out that the whole project is only funded until the end of March
This is the problem with working with a charity - they are always funding things until a certain date and the extending it JUST before the finding stops
or not
so the poor woman who is running it in this area is scrambling around getting the stats to look good hoping at least a part of it will continue

all of which rather gets in the way of any long term planning or thinking

I have also discovered that a similar thing I used to work on - via a local council - stopped being funded (i.e. closed down) late last year
and another almost identical one started up and had a BIG EVENT in the local market a few days ago
funny - that - a big event and I only found out about it because I was nosing around about the other version

telling people they exist seems to be a rather weak point in these things!!

My wife worries about this sort of thing
if I get annoyed enough I could end up deciding to just fix the damn things myself - and then end up spending far too much time on it all and worrying about it too much

Anyway - must calm down!!

Bugger
typing that has made me think

which is always a mistake - it leads to me wanting to do things abou tthings

anyway - I feel a letter to my MP coming on
The problem is that we (i.e. AgeUK) can install the NHS App for worried older people (looks at thread title!) but we can;t actually show them all that much in it
Because it ends up doing stuff and sending message to GPs and the like

so I have been asking about a dummy patient we can use which has full functions by nobody responds to it and anything
Then we can take people right through the whole thing and show them

but it "doesn;t exist"
but of course it does - I worked in IT for too long to believe that
they have to test it somehow
and live problems crop up that need a dummy test on the live system

So SOMEONE has the info I want - they just need to realise that it needs making more accessible

anyway - probably this afternoon or evening after I have worked it out in my head

Morning folks :okay: enjoyed a spin yesterday the wind not so much but still infinitely better than the turbo! Actually met another cyclist [a rarity in winter] riding over the hills who greeted me with an enthusiastic wave
Will be gardening again today getting ready for spring and a general tidy up :okay:

:hello: Morning, crappy nights sleep, but that's nothng new

I had a strange and vivid dream last night.
Long story short I got what I thought was a demand for £1,750.00.
I couldn't figure out why so phoned the solicitor that sent it. Turned out to be someone sending me money!!
In my dream I had worked in Israel** the year before and helped a woman out......this was her thanks.
**In real life I did work in Israel some 35 years ago.
The mind is strange (well mine is).

Morning. Mild again but a morning of heavy showers.

I’ve become an overnight vegan after watching these 3 documentaries yesterday.

Industrial Farming & Food Production
  • Dominion (2018): An expose of the Australian factory farming system using drones and hidden cameras to show the daily lives of livestock.
  • Earthlings (2005): A comprehensive look at humanity's dependence on animals for food, clothing, pets, entertainment, and scientific research.
  • Eating Our Way to Extinction (2021): Highlights the environmental, social, and ethical implications of industrial animal agriculture.
Way to go Mo :okay: imho the healthiest and kindest option :okay:

Do they works nights ?
I waiting for a parcel from Amazon
This morning it was 14:00 - 16 :30
Then 15:30 - 18:00
Now 18:30 to 20:15

I have had parcels delivered by Amazon as early as 07:00, and, as late as 21:30. There is an Amazon "fulfilment centre, aka Warehouse" about 4 miles from where I live.

The tracking often shows parcels arriving at the "fulfilment centre" early in the morning (eg 01:15), so I assume it is a 24/7 operation.

Barnet,
The car was deposited at the garage, and because it is bin day, and the start of the school run plus commuters doing there thing it took me 38 minutes to go 3 miles.
Coming back on the Brompton it took me 12 minutes.
There is a moral to this tale somewhere.

Coming through Oxford area on the train. If it was a bit sunnier it could look like a clip from " Apocalypse Now " with the surrounding landscape resembling paddy fields alongside the Mekong Delta...
I'm on a Cross Country train heading towards Bournemouth, my arse is numb, whoever designed these seats has obviously never met someone as svelte in form as myself 😉. Only another hour and a half of numb bum to go...

Weirdness has occurred

2 days ago I went for a ride
as usual I started Strava and used the Beacon facility to send a monitor of the ride to my wife - just in case

anyway check it was all working and she could see me moving around in the garden via the link

all normal

anyway - got home and she said the monitor had run just fine for a while - then I appeared to be standing still from then on - a few miles down the road

Anyway - I tried all sorts - stopped Strava and restarted it
stopped the phone and restarted it
looked at Strava on teh web

everything showed no ride today at all

tried it all again a few hours later and still no ride recorded at all

OK - looking at known problems - looks like maybe my phone got restarted at some point and that could do it

OK

until today - 2 days later

started Strava on the phone

and it said I could not record a ride as one was still being recorded!!!

It was the ride from 2 days ago
I just ended the recording and it seems like a perfectly valid ride - just onlu goes a couple of miles
then moves at VERY high speed directly to our garden!

weird that it seems to have existed in hyperspace for 2 days then suddenly materialised as if nothing has happened!

Kindest yes but not so great for old timers who need plenty of protein to combat muscle loss. I eat a lot of cheese.
Im mostly vegetarian just rarely eating fish and do eat a lot of cheese appreciating it as protein source. It is possible to be vagan and get enough protein via pulses, soya etc but it would take knowledge and care. Im no spring chicken and much more thoughtful about diet these days to be sure im fueling the old body! :okay:

A lot of the modern rolling stock on the railways have hard, uncomfortable seating in standard class carriages.
Nearly eight and a half hours on the direct LNER Azuma from King's Cross to Inverness was a bit of a test. At least we could get up and walk around a bit.
