A lot of the modern rolling stock on the railways have hard, uncomfortable seating in standard class carriages.
Nearly eight and a half hours on the direct LNER Azuma from King's Cross to Inverness was a bit of a test. At least we could get up and walk around a bit.

What is this "standard class" you speak of ?

Right, this seriously is just conversation ....not complaining.
You all know that my wife Sue died, it's weirdly over 2 years now, and many on here gave me lots of verbal help/support.
I still find certain things, sometimes trivial things difficult to come to terms with. eg I used to go to Aldi every week and was under instruction to bring back the magazine with the next week's offers. First thing Sue did was scour the crud while I put things away.
Since she died I haven't been able to enjoy flicking through them. I've just been to Aldi and on the way out picked up a flyer, no doubt full of stuff for pets and babies .I dont have pets and have serious doubts that I will have any babies but I will shortly have a browse of the flyer.

What is this "standard class" you speak of ?

I have heard that it is a place that the "common people" use when they travel by train

More appropriate accommodation and service is available for proper people people

like those that come from posh place like The Wirral
(which include Lilly Savage - best not to mention that!)

The cat has passed it's MOT, but initially failed on the emissions. They flushed out the exhaust system and it passed. I was told that because we don't do much motorway travel it clogs up the system, so every now and then it needs a bit of a thrash .
£409 including vat and labour for a mot, service and exhaust flush.😟

2nd class was ok...... for the lower classes but people like me and Andrew Mountbatten wouldn't settle for it.

I’ve become an overnight vegan after watching these 3 documentaries yesterday.

In Madrid for a few days, back on Thursday. It’s my son’s 21st so we are all out here celebrating it with him. Weather is fantastic, 19c today and blue skies, honestly forgotten what a dry day with blue sky is like.

Great day today sight seeing, tomorrow we are going the the Athlectico Madrid game and Wednesday to the Real Madrid game, so lots of football.

First time in Madrid, definitely come back it’s a great city. Lots to see and do.

A good 54 miles today in very windy conditions. Pace dropped to 10 - 12mph in the headwind and even the tailwind home was tough.......if that makes sense.

Mrs P is out for the evening. Just finished a G&T. I've found leftover fish pie in the freezer. My world is rosy.

Most of the cafes in North Yorkshire have decent Vegan stuff on offer.

I was reading about a guy that went on a strict veggie diet and it killed him
He was was 135 when he died.
