A lot of the modern rolling stock on the railways have hard, uncomfortable seating in standard class carriages.
Nearly eight and a half hours on the direct LNER Azuma from King's Cross to Inverness was a bit of a test. At least we could get up and walk around a bit.

Quite a few years ago we walked the Great Glen Way and caught the Caledonian Sleeper from Inverness to Kings Cross. It was the old rolling stock, I was pragmatic in ensuring that Mrs Tkk had the top bunk as I knew that I would almost certainly have to get up at some stage for a pee and didn't want to disturb her when clambering down😉

Been out for dinner

Only a Toby Carvery but we had a Groupon voucher that expired today so we went
It was nice - well - nice for a Toby

Only confusion was the voucher
I was just getting ready to leave and grabbed the voucher that I printed off a few days ago
I knew it expired today as Groupon kept sending be emails saying it did

but when I looked at it- the fine print said it expired 3 days ago!!!!

which was confusing

I checked on the website and the fine print says "expiry date 20th Feb" - clear as day

but when I displayed the Groupon it clearly says it expires on 23rd Feb

anyway - tehy accepted it so all was OK

I hate last minute things like that

I've been lucky on my two trips to Leeds this weekend as three of the four journeys involved the InterCity 225 which has much more comfortable seats. For a numb bum you can't beat the Class 158s used on EMRs Norwich-Liverpool run. I've only done the three hours from Peterborough-Manchester a couple of times in the past and it was enough to convince me to pay a little extra and go LNER from Peterborough - Leeds and then Northern/TPE to Manchester Victoria.
