Good morning all.
Heavy rain here and quite cool.
Mr Fixit is coming as I have a list of small jobs that need doing eg with the new carpets down i have 2 doors that need thier bottoms shaving ooh erhh missus.. I need some mastic at the back of the sink. I dont have any and he always carries it.
I need to nip out as there is a place nearby that will make leftover pieces of carpet into rugs and I want one under the treadmill.
AND.... I am planning a pub lunch (if im awake by then).

Morning.
Much colder here as v windy and a northerly so feels it as well. Dry though.
Plan for this morning is the joyful task(not) of ringing around care/nursing homes to see if vacancy and procedure etc for my Dad assuming he gets medically released from hospital.

Sticking my big nose in. Rhetorical question** but......have you explored alternatives as care home costs are very scary as I know from experience. Sue's aunty DID have £100K in the bank when the relatives "put" her in a care home. 12 months later there is £20K left.
** as I say, that rhetorical so feel free to ignore that.

Care/nursing homes are ridiculously expensive, £5000-6000 a month or something. However, he couldn't cope at home. My Mum is elderly and frail and they both live at home still but no way would they cope so care home it must be.

When my was ill (dementure) and my Dad's eyesight and disability was getting worse
he once told me that he had planned for ll his life that they would be able to leave me with a decent inheritance when they died.

But as things were he was thinking that when the last of them went then I would be left with nothing as one or both of them would require so much care costs that it would eat up everything they had
Including the value of the house

In the event they lived together in the house until nearly the end and basically his mind and her body were functional so they sort of managed with a visit from the NHS carers every day

but I know he was very concerned about care home costs and very upset about how all his plans were useless

I took 2 pieces of carpet to the lady/company that turns them into runners. She showed me some she had done.....very impressive.
She will cut them to the sizes I gave her ie 800mm x 500mm and edge them.......... £21.00.
Can't complain about that. I think i will do a bigger one for the conservatory.
