Mrs P found a recording of the Moody Blues at the Isle of Wight in 1970. I've only heard their albums, never seem the band "live." WOW! They were very good. I'd always imagined the music benefitted hugely from studio production.

That event couldn't possibly happen today. The authorities would close the island first.

It's on Sky Arts.

I really liked the Moodies. I saw them several times at the Royal Albert over the years. A great band in my opinion.

That was the third festival: at the time the IOW had around 60k people living on it, & estimates where that the 1970 festival had perhaps 600,000 people attend - no wonder the Government passed a law to ban such gatherings!
I was born there, & lived a mile or so from the 1969 Woodside one: I was only 5, but remember hippies hiking down our (unmade-up) road…& hearing music. Ahh, happy days!!

We’ve gone to the festival for a few years now - retirement made things easier, & the kids being older 🤣

I’ve lots of memorabilia about the original big one, & a book of amazing photos taken by the last Chris Weston.

It's been a good day. A productive chat with my FA reassured me financially I will be OK when I no longer have Mrs P's pension income.

Now get this. I'm feeling rather proud. Towards the end of my PT session my PT beamed at me and laughed loud, a happy laugh. When I finished the set she asked, still beaming, "How old are you, 71, soon to be 72?" "It's quite amazing, you won't find anyone else in your cohort who can do what you do." Then she gave me a double high five. It was a great moment.

I think she meant locally not worldwide 🤣🤣🤣

I have just finished writing my memoirs for the benefit of my two children. I have printed it and will give it to them.
It will give them an idea of what I have done in the last 75 years, especially my youth.
In all, it is 10000 words.
My father did it and I thought it was a good idea as I learned a lot about his past, things he never discussed when he was alive.
I hope my son and daughter will do the same one day about his own lives and their own children too.
It would be nice to have four successive generations explaining what they have lived through and see the changes in life styles over more than a century , for our descendants to reflect upon and trace the history of their own family.
