Just come back from a ride

decided I better had before the weather turn bad again
planned it late morning but we got advanced notification of a visit from the grand kids

Apparently the oldest and her Mum were having afternoon tea at a restaurent up the road
so their Dad decided it would be a good opportunity to visit his Mum with the 2 boys
and teh boys through it would be a good chance to see if teh Easter Bunny had left and Easter Eggs

which, it turned out, he had - or we had - not sure what they believe

Anyway after they went I went for a ride
cold a few days ago has left me with some sort of blockage in my airways
so I was planning of using an increase Power Assist level anyway

but Gods my breathing was bad!!
used the Asthma inhaler but it didn;t help much but by then I was over The Bridge and the canals are quite flat (obviously!)

so I carried on
By teh time I got to the end of the Runcorn branch of the canal I decided I had better head back just in case

but I actually got better - and it was not just the wind

maybe I just need the activity to boost something or other

still blocked up but better than I was

I thought you'd never ask! 😀 The stem deliberately has extra spacers above and below. We won't make the final cut until I'm sure about position.

Evening folks :okay: decided not to venture on the A9 today, just didnt fancy 'interacting' with traffic. So a 48 miler over the hills and back, snaffled a large bar of chocolate sat by the sea at Golspie ^_^ have been doing quite a few miles lately and have to make sure im eating enough, im a skinny whippet and dont want to disappear entirely!
Received some Meconopsis [blue poppy] seeds, so will have a go at growing those. :okay:

co-ordinates and map references are more complicated for people to work out in an emergency

Especially if they are "just people" rather than experienced walker/riders etc

when I was younger I was in the Scouts etc and I could have given a map reference easily
but these days not many people will have proper map on them and even fewer will be able to work out where they are accurately
and even fewer give the proper reference

but anyone with a smartphone is likely to be able to use what3words even if they are panicking

AND
giving 3 words over a bad signal phone call is less likely to be mis-understood than giving a numeric co-ordinate
humans are very good at switching digits in numbers

although - as pointed out before - some plurals and singulars near each other and similar sounding words are a problem if you are not careful

but apparently it has saved lived so it is better than nothing!

To use what3words you need a smartphone, a smartphone ( certainly my iPhone), tells you the coordinates of your current location, if you open the included compass app. As standard my wife’s Samsung Galaxy does not appear to have a compass app, as standard, but no doubt there is one available on play store.

I have a GPS app on my phone anyway

but reading out the number is quite error-prone
with people getting them switched and people mishearing

Which is why wtaht3wrods was invented anyway I think

If you can take a photo of something and email it to someone (dunno about WhatsApp) then the photo contains the GPS address

I found this out when a probation officer I dated for a while told me about it
one of her "clients" had been chucked back in jail because he had conned a young girl into taking a photo of a band poster and sent it to him by email
Then he turned up on her doorstep
when I say young - I mean about 11!!!!

but it does work - it is part of the spec for digitl photos !

Barnet,
Good morning all.
The cats have had their breakfast and have gone out, except Harry who has come in after a night doing cat things.
A cool start to the day here with a bit of dampness in the air., some rain is forecast for later.
I now have my first mug of tea :cuppa: and I am listening to Tony Blackburn on the radio.
After yesterday's exertions today will be more relaxed. Dog walking, maybe a stop at the cafe for a bacon sandwich. Then like @Dave7 an afternoon of armchair sports watching.
Enjoy your day everyone.

Morning all, I had my first bike ride for over two years yesterday, only an hour but I sure enjoyed it. Last night we were in Runcorn for a seventies night at the Brindley Theatre, a great night as well. Our house here is only a 5 minute walk to the station and the trains are extremely regular so we often use them for nights out in Liverpool or other local towns.

Good morning from an overcast London. Slept fitfully on a Futon, it's a long way down when you have to get up in the night for a pee🤔
Off to Brum in a few hours so we're deciding which mode of transport, bus, overground or underground. Restaurant booked for 6:30 as we like to eat early then have a wander around looking for interesting pubs 🍺
