Downpour here. Gutters overflowing, few hard bits in the rain as well
A pleasant jog past the ponds and then along the Roman road. Watch died 11 minutes in as I hadn't charged it for a week or so. Had porridge with sultanas banana and dates for lunch then neighbourhood cat tapped on the patio doors so I let him in and fed him. He's currently lounging in Mrs Tkks favourite chair.

Well - the Sporst day was a problem
got there on time and found the entrance
but it turned out the publicised dates were 18th for 3 days
the second bit was missed out so it was assumed it was everyone on the same day
but he is tomorow
and tomorrow no-one can go as everyone has re-arranged stuff to be able to go today!!!
He seemed disappointed when we told him
I think he knows we tried - but basically we failed

Just seen the News about the 2 F18 jets that crashed in the US
and just after I was looking for a marriage certificate - for otehr reasons
and I came across this
This was 2 Ukrainian Mig 19s (I think) that were displaying at the RIAT at RAF Fairford many years ago
I was there with my Dad and took this JUST before they crashed
There was a huge crowd there and it went totally silent
the people started saying quietly "anyone see any parachutes"
from where we were we had seen 1
apparently the other opened fine but was behind the smoke etc to us
but in both crashes the ejection seats did their jobs and all crew survived
funny to find it today!!

At Fairford when it happened - after a few seconds my Dad quietly said
"funny how one always goes up and one goes down"
He was based there during the war
I asked him about it a bit later and he said he saw quite a few bombers crash when he was stationed there
but they didn;t have ejection seat so.....

Busy-ish day today Out for a short bumble on the Fairlight to test the Igaro which worked well but the usb cable kept popping out with the vibrations from the fen droves; reckon it was a bit too long a cable so will have to source some decent quality short usb-c ones.
Got some plants put in when I got back (after coffee and a waffle) and then later after lunch the spares kit for our old Anglepoise lamp arrived ; no instructions as there was a big label on the Jiffy bag stating that it should be done by a qualified electrician ,we've both worked for companies that involved electrical work (and I did do a PAT test course s few years ago) so we worked it out and tested it (twice!) and all good.
Then walk up to the doctors for a double vaccination ,one for shingles and the other a pneumococcal (pneumonia and meningitis); was told to lay off the alcohol for 24hrs so no wine tonight! Should be ok for the Cambridge beer fest in a couple of days though

Evening all .
It’s been a much better day here in Coventry today, only a few light showers of rain. Spent the day doing the washing and a bit of gardening.
Didnt do much today as I am suffering from sailing a full race yesterday. ( my legs are still burning 😂). What with the strong winds recently meaning I haven’t sailed some races and the fact when I have sailed I’ve got my ‘knickers in a twist ‘ and have retired from the race before the end. means am a bit short of sailing fitness.
In fact my reluctance to finish a race has become standing joke at the club , so much so that I got loads of congratulations when I came off the the water, not for finishing second ( which I did) , no just for finishing at all . 😂😂😀
Let’s see if this newly found resolve lasts until Wednesday when evening racing starts . 😀

Yesterday was “go look at a few cars” day….ended up agreeing a deal to replace my aging & (mostly) trusty XC60 with a Jag FPace. Must finally make me properly old: first Jag 🤣
Hopeful it will do us proud, although we were slightly sad giving up on our old one: bought from new almost 12 years ago 👀
As our daughter put it “aww, it had a good run” 🫣
