I have just googled it and the 'experts' say i probably will but to wait 6 weeks before having a new eye test.

Not trying to be pedantic, but what kind of pegs do you all use. Are they the wooden or plastic spring loaded ones, or the old fashioned wooden Dolly pegs?
I use the Dollies as I find the plastic one get brittle and snap after a while, and the wooden one tend to send the spring flying.

We have precisely zero pegs in this house.

Oh, thank you, I thought it was just me. We have three different styles of clothes peg. My rules are, Mrs P laughs:

• Styles must not be mixed
• Colours must not be mixed
• Strongest pegs are reserved for heavier items
• Socks must be hung in pairs
• Shirts, T shirts must be hung the right way up, fronts facing me
• Jeans, right way up, inside out to dry pockets and reduce fading

I'm with you on all points.

The cost of running a tumbledryer for a start.
Clothes smell a lot fresher when dried outside.
Do you perchance not have an outside area to hang the washing?

Pete, I feel your pain. I once took matters in hand when Mrs Tkk was feeling a bit below par. Washing removed from machine, carried down the garden and pegged out on the whirlygig. I was just standing back admiring the symmetry of my efforts when I became aware of a presence just behind me. Mrs Tkk proceeded to rearrange all the items as apparently I'd " got it wrong " 🤔

Yup - I peg everything wrong on the line as well

I could mention that my method is based on air flow and drying potential and results in the things drying faster

but I don;t think the concepts and facts would over-ride that I am wrong

because I am wrong - not other data required sometimes!

Welshie was saying that she was going to hang a pair of bloomers on the line yesterday but found she only had 40 pegs so has ordered an extra 50 off Amazon.

Now - you see
If jeans are pegged up by the bottoms then the thicker areas swing back and forth more

which increases air flow and thus speeds up drying

and also the extra weight of the top part stretches the legs out thus making ironing less - or not needed at all

Perchance! Love that word!

We have a huge garden so plenty of space.

Tbh, the cost of running the TD is absolute peanuts when we occasionally use it. Radiators are our usual default.

I don't have a tumble dryer, but I do have two airing cupboards, one I can dry bedding in.
We have rotary washing lines, but you have to be quick to get one

Just back from an 80+ mile blast around Exmoor with my mate on his Royal Enfield.
Bike went well and I'm getting more confident in its handling characteristics.
It's got stonking mid range power which is ideal for the types of roads around here.
I'm beginning to really enjoy it.
