Morning, sun is out and it's 20cRunning?
Not for me: I peaked in 1985 when I did the Milton Keynes Half Marathon - run 300yds, go round the roundabout 🤣
Did manage to crack 2 hours….by 2 seconds 🤪
Well, we didn’t take Thursday off, but instead managed a rather wet 14km, which meant we could finish walking the King Charles III path round the Isle of Wight yesterday with a big 30km day in ferocious winds, luckily behind us most of the day. A total of 120km, 160k steps and 27hrs actual walking time over the 5 days 💪
Beers were drunk…legs are aching a LOT!
Considering a swim today, followed by the Midsummer Fayre and a pub dinner.
Then we rest 🫣
Now I've dropped over 3 stones in weight im considering trying g running again, see if my achilles manages now there's less load upon it.
How did you do it?
Diet.
No breakfast.
Very light lunch. Scotch egg or pot noodle or sandwich (two slices bread) and a bag of low fat crisps.
Sensible portions for dinner, no overtly greasy food such as chippy chips. Mrs D has also ceased her habit of only eating half of hers and offering it to me.
Protein shakes and kept the exercise going, as with rapid weight loss muscle mass can also erode.
We only keep the bare minimum in the house, no biscuits, cakes, etc, so snacking is eliminated- I can't eat what isn't there!
Im allowed a handful of peanuts occasionally if the cravings get a bit much, although after 4 months and 3+ stones my body seems to have re-educated itself and Im not getting the cravings much at all.
If we go out and stop at a coffee shop Ill have a slice of cake, but then ill either skip lunch entirely (if its a morning visit) or have only soup for tea (if its an afternoon visit.)
Now im well into it and I've seen significant results I've become even more disciplined, its given me the motivation to knuckle down.
And once a week im allowed a treat. Im a Revells addition, so its usually a bag of Revells on a Friday.
And its worked. Im looking and feeling pretty good and were saving a significant amount onnthe shopping bill because were not buying much crap. And most importantly im feeling really good.
And if youre asking how I did the Achilles, I did it by running while weighing 280lbs. Heart and lungs were managing it fine, but the joints and connective tissues werent.

And an occasional beignet 😉
Good morning all.
Today is our 45th wedding anniversary, we are celebrating, if that is the right term by having a champagne afternoon tea in a London hotel just off Regents Street.
