Barnet,
I'm with you, it's not much of a job, but to some that's all they had.

I doubt whether staff were made redundant, but would of been redeployed picking online orders, of which there are many, or stacking the shelves. True, it would cut down the overall amount of staff over time, but not to the point of redundancy.
There are plenty of people on this forum who use Internet shopping for various goods doing small businesses out of income and therefore putting their staff at risk.

In my Sainsburys they got rid of four staff, and for that reason I always ask to open another till if there is a queue. :cursing:

Son is back from university and daughter is staying here between flats. I feel really guilty saying this but I can’t wait for them to both bugger off!

House is absolute chaos, food shop bill has gone through the roof and my lad has commandeered Mrs Gunks car. I have turned into Victor Meldrew

Really like the automated shopping facilities, tbh.

Sainsbury's scan'n'go is excellent.

Pick up the little scanner on entry, scan items as you go, pop them straight into your bag. Finish shopping, go to automated checkouts, 'shoot' with your scanner, tap'n'go with your phone. Exit...

Simple and fast which is one of the things I want from the supermarket experience.

My sentiments exactly. Supermarket shopping is a chore, not a pleasure, the quicker and easier I can make it, the better, as far as I am concerned.

I feel your pain, I live in dread of any of ours returning to the nest. 😂

Quite.

Things change, technology moves on. Presumably, once upon a time there were lots of people employed renewing horses shoes, but, not really needed now. Once upon a time, petrol pumps had attendants, not any more, and so on and so on

A lot of the time I get the supermarket shopping done on line and delivered.
I get most of the fresh produce from our local market and local butchers and bakers.

Busy evening at the White Horse bike night.
They counted over 100 bikes turning up.
