Buyers want either original, no matter how tired, or a minty fresh restoration. There's no in-between for 90% of the target audience.

Thats an older resto that is now looking slightly tired, so it won't appeal to either side of the market. Someone'll be interested for sure, but the two largest sectors of the market aren't going to be interested.

That leaves those that don't care, who are in a minority, and those after project and want something that can be returned to minty fresh status. Those buyers are far less numerous, and neither will pay top coin. They buy cheap because they can't afford original or concours, and then put the time in themselves.

I also had a wander up to the Co-op for a couple of things. For once something I enjoy has actually been reduced slightly. I like the hot smoked salmon fillets with a chilli flake covering. I think they hit £6 at once point but they are back down to £5. Not too bad for 2 fillets.

I think hes a good chance of £4k if he doesn't rush. Id be tempted myself, but I've been given strict orders about returning hime with anything bigger than a lawnmower that has an engine!

Very good. We eat a lot of salmon and I always think at £5/6 for two it represents good value

Yes, I think so and oily fish is pretty healthy. My diet flip flops all over the place but I've given up on keto or carnivore being a good idea. I'll stick to mainly fish and chicken for my protein, oats and rice or a medium baked potato for my carbs and a reasonable amount of fruit and veg for fibre. I'm quite pleased with the protein overnight oats I bought as the 20 grams of protein along with the oats definitely seems to be keeping me full for longer.

If I do eat ultra processed stuff it will just be occasionally for convenience, eg I found a lovely tomato and 3 bean tinned soup in the Co-op that I really enjoy for lunch. Decent ingredients, pretty filling and cheap.

I have salmon with hollandaise sauce cooked from scratch
with peas and carrots and mashed potatoes for lunch

I do something similar. My main bank account is with Santander, we have a number of accounts one that I called the Budget Account. A monthly amount was transferred in to cover the annual bills like insurance. I was never quite sure where I was up to.

Then I discovered Monzo bank. I transfer the monthly amount to Monzo were it is then split into individual Savings Pots for MOT, home insurance, car etc. Each pot has a target date and set amount together with the % of target reached. I find this works really well and helps me know exactly where I'm up to.

I currently have 9 individual pots or jars.

I have done the "splitting into pots" for approximately 40 years, using an Excel Spreadsheet. It works brilliantly, and, if I wish to "indulge" myself, I can do so, fully aware that it will not upset the routine "bills", or, if it is going to upset them, to what degree.

Vincent prices are falling as well.
The classic market always follows the generation that has the money. As that generation shrinks - so does the market.
The sweet spot is generally where the buyers are financially secure with time to indulge themselves ie. people retired or approaching retirement. There is then a narrow window where they are active enough to indulge their teenage fantasies before the grim reaper appears on the horizon.

I hope the window is not TOO narrow! 😂

Got out for a ride this morning and ended up getting soaked on the way out , was a bit damp when I got to a bus shelter to throw on the waterproof but it stopped me getting any wetter as it was still throwing it down and proper windy as i got in to Cambridge.

It did blow over when I was on the way back so was able to take it off and by the time I got back it was actually pretty humid although still breezy, also didn't have hardly any rain at home so garden is still parched.

Nice 77k though even though there was some strong headwind on the way out, HTFU and all that I suppose!

Good day to you all. Having daughter and grandson has skewed our routine but it's a good change. After our disappointment with last week's fish and chips from our once excellent local chippy that recently changed hands we did a bit of asking around. Daughter and grandson headed of to the beach yesterday afternoon and stopped off at the chippy in Lilliput on the way home. Very good indeed, even if the portions were a bit small.
I made Macaroni cheese this morning, ready to go in the oven later. I also made a focaccia loaf but unfortunately the bottom stuck to the baking tray despite using lots of oil. It looks a bit of a mess but tastes ok. We watched a film about the Doors last night, made by Studio Canal in 2009. I sort of enjoyed it but I felt that it lacked a narrative stream.
Also cracked open my bottle of 10 year old Ardbeg. It's 61proof and I did try a gentle sip before adding a drop of water. Astonishingly delicious almost oily mouth feel and deeply warming😎
