Back from my walk. A pleasant 3.4 miles. Difficult in parts as I added the section where the construction traffic has churned it up so plenty of runs and bumps.

anyway - got the car to Halfords to get the puncture repaired by 8 hoping I could just have a coffee in Greggs and it would be ready

turns out they have a lot of hangover work so it will be a while

anyway - it'll get fixed

SWMBO's son is coming round to help erect the WHite House Ballroom
or pergoda as it says on the box - about the same size anyway

but he is coming round "about lunchtime
and he will almost certainly be picking his wife up from work at about 3-3:30
so we won;t have much time

I don't think him Mum had explained how big it is!!!


ALl this fuss all the time is the fault of the Chancellor

I think my wife thinks that an Old Age Pension evaporates if you don't spend it quickly!!!

The usual quote I use to Daughter No4 (who is a spender) is "Money is not like milk, it doesn't go off, you can keep it" 😂

It doesn't work, but, it amuses me 😊

TBH I didnt know Halfords did puncture repairs on cars.

They took over National Tyres and Exhausts and do everything they did

In fact the one in Runcorn still have the old banners over it - they are redoing them slowly

wife's son has just left

he and I have spent the last few hours trying to put the Pergola up
initially it went great - I had done a fair bit last night and the frame was basically up

Then we started on the roof

The instructions were clearly designed for someone who already knows how to do it so missing a few things out and making the images from an angle that hides a critical detail are OK

But when you have to work it out yourself with 2 young boys "helping" has clearly not occurred to them

They also seem to have designed it based on how putting it together will work in a dry factory witha perfectly flat floor and mark to show exactly where the feet need to be to stress the roof and its panels the absolute minimum
Whereas most people will be doing i on a lawn or garden patio which varies in height in places


anyway - only 4 roof panels to go

or I could emigrate - I believe Greenland is nice at the time of year and has no need for pergolas

Good ride today. Beautiful day without being too hot.
65miles and 5400ft of climbing so pretty bushed by time got home
Treated myself to a very rare for me bacon and egg bap at cafe and it was fantastic!
