Here's a question for us retirees.
How much of a nest egg would you need before you lashed out on a big spend item?
Most of us, at our time of life, are property rich with some cash in the bank.
I'm musing over whether to drop about 20% of my liquid assets on a motorhome but something is holding me back - I just can't envisage spending that much.
Any thoughts?

I went and dropped 58 large on my camper. Its not 20% of my liquid assets, but was still a sum I thought carefully about for some time before committing.

As my Dad said to me at the time, "there are no pockets in a shroud."

Barnet,
We just watched the first couple of episodes of Alley Cats by Ricky Gervais. It is on Netflix.
It has been bigged up on the telly recently MrsP was looking forward to it.
It's a crock of poo. Swearing, really bad language from the start and no humour to speak of.
If Gervais thinks that this is entertainment then he has really lost the plot.

My Dad is determined to be on his last tenner when he dies.

Hes also got plans to die fighting a terrorist trained tiger in a nuclear reactor building, and then with his dying breaths he intends to stagger away and collapse and finally die where the boundaries of three different police forces meet. The idea is he wants to cause as much paperwork for as many people and organisations as possible.
