I was very disappointed with the eclipse. So much hype for very little. The sky didn't go dark, just a normal day.

It went darker here, I needed the light on

We were planning on goint to a local "scenic spot" to see the eclipse but SWMBO was far too hot so decided to stay at home

I reslised that we had discussed all sorts of places with clear views in teh right direction and forgot about the playing fields just across the road!
well - 1/4 miles away at the end of the road

so I just went there was a cobbled together pin hole camera arrangement with the box from some trainers I got yesterday

Which worked pretty well - really needed a much longer box but it did work

Now - I was on the main field but off to one side so I could stay in the shade of some trees and just nip out to see where it was up to from time to time

I was just looking and I heard someone
I looked up and a bloke that was about 100 yards away when I say down - had come over and was offering me some of the special glasses to watch it through!!
He said he got them ages ago and when he did it was 2 for 1 so he got 2 - but no-one wanted to come out and watch it

so he just gave them to me!!!

not even sitting near me - he was in the middle of the field - so he had to think of it and come over


It is lovely to be reminded sometimes that nice people like that exists
the k***heads stand out so it can be easy to forget that most people are OK - and some very nice people are out there!!!

Similar thing happened to our dsughter and grandson who are travelling back to Leeds. They stopped at a place called Kirby Muxloe en route and people lent them their special glasses so they could witness the eclipse 😎

I thought the eclipse was good but not as good as i remember the one in 1999.😀 Probably due to the time of day , if I remember correctly the one in 1999 was around mid day/ early afternoon.
The sailing on the other hand was rubbish. The met office forecasted winds of 6 mph gusting 16 mph, what we got was 2 mph gusting 6mph . This is meat and drink to Mrs exlaser who won easily and I managed to finish second . So everyone was happy in the exlaser household. 😀

First three episodes of Reacher watched. Lots of bad dudes getting slapped, crush, thrown off buildings, thrust into deep fat fryers, etc. Jolly good stuff.
