Well this is good. United Utilities has closed, without warning, the only road in and out of our village.

This seems to be happening more often, no temporary traffic lights just a complete road closure without any notice or diversion signs.

We have a main road closed and it cuts the village in two
No busses will go through the village untill the end of the month
with a walk of 100 yds to 1/4 mile for some, so I guess some will just stay indoors.

Ive just watched 70up, recorded from Tuesday. Interesting and sad at times. Amazing how many have been married and divorced.
Also interesting(ish) was the kids from privileged backgrounds expected to and did attain well paid jobs eg one is a top barrister living in a very nice house in his estate.

If it doesn't rain tomorrow, I shall go and ride the new 2 kms cycle path that avoids a very busy roundabout and finishes by a nature reserve apparently, it costs £5 million pounds to build and many anti-cyclists members of the community are already complaining about its cost and effectiveness.
Well, too bad. It is here to stay now and I am sure it will used jointly by walkers and cyclists on a daily basis.

I would ask for a breakdown of the reported cost Who says it costs that much? Who is costing it, what are they costing and how are they costing it. There are lots of ways of reporting numbers depending on the agenda.

I think on the retirement thread, we are old enough to decide what we can, should, will talk about without having being moderated by some people. Fancy that, cycling related things being discussed on a cycling forum. I also think we are old enough to ensure that handbags at dawn are not drawn, mainly because we can't be arsed.
