Morning all.
A good kip but with weird dreams, one in particular. Normally I cant remember what my dreams were about, just that I had them. This one is clear but makes no sense.
A cool 11° here but should be dry.
Exiting news......I am going to try our new Lidl**. I normally use Aldi as its nearer and easier to get to but Wickes is next door and I want something from there.
**this one is, apparently, twice as big as the old one.

Up to Leeds for a couple of days, moving our youngest into his student house for his second year.

Morning all

MrsD has a hair appointment at 9.30, so I'm on pup sitting duties until she gets back.
I've got to nip up to the Post Office to change the taxation class to Historic Vehicle on my Puch Maxi. I can't be bothered using the car to go there so I'll have a little ride on my NSU Quickly.

I was watching Bangers and Cash on the app last night and they had an NSU Quickly in the auction.

I watched a prog last night on the horrors people had had using/owning camper vans. It was part scary part funny.

Talk about HGV reminds me of a friend of my Dads

He owned a small transport company and had a contract to transport "unknown stuff" for the MOD
not very often but enough

If he had a call about a trip for them he had to send 2 drivers - and he always made sure he was one of them

The rules were
turn up at the appointed time and place
leave the truck where directed
go to nearby building and drink tea until told it was read
drive to appointed destination without any breaks (hence 2 drivers)

obviously they had very precise instruction in case of problems etc

and once they had a warning light on the truck
He got ou tthe instructions and it gave direction to the nearest military base and exactly what to say and show

so they diverted and drove up to the gate

now the truck had no MOD or military marks - for obvious reasons

an the gate just saw this civvy truck drive up and demand entrance

so they told them to F off - in nice terms

They refused and an officer was called

now this bloke used to be a squaddy - and loved telling the officer he was wrong and HAD to let them in

but he refused and told them to go away in no uncertain terms
NOW

but, of course, they could have had anything in that truck
and they had an emergency number so they called it and explained
and got precise instructions to stay in the cab and wait - do not move the truck in any way for any reason

2 minutes later a vehicle came screaming up to the gate and a much higher ranking office got out and shouted in very "military" and basic terms at the junior officer to let them in

all the while with the ex-squaddie watching on and making zero attempt to hide his pleasure about it

anyway - end of story - have to get ready to go out for a AgeuK thing

Oh - and 2 rides in 2 days plus several hours of gardening and DIYhave resulted in my legs complaining!!

It's easy to know when you're telephoning someone who is working from home by the fact that you can hear their budgerigar chirping in the background 🤷‍♂️

Just gone all exotic and made myself a Mocha (sp?) . Had a delivery of chocolate flakes from bare bones so I used a large tablespoon in 100ml of oatmilk, zapped in the microwave and wizzed with a stick frother gubbins. Then put the mug under the spout of the bean to cup machine and selected the strongest brew. Kept the wizzy wand in the mug as the coffee was being dispensed. That's worked really well.
