I'm up again, I see the BBC are at it again, this time with a £11 broadband
surcharge to make every one pay, good news to those who pay the licence
as now it won't cost so much only £132 per year, but you can bet that will rise
every year, me I'll have to find £11 for something I don't use to subsidise those who do.
How can that be right ?

then the car has to go to the garage
windscreen washers failed
apparently the bottom of the bottle was "full of gunk" and the gunk had got into the nozzels and cuased a blockage
which blew one of the pipes off its connector

I suspect the "gunk" was the washer fluid I used not mixing properly
but it could have been there when I got it

anyway - they have the new nozzels in so I'm taking it in again on my way home this morning

Good morning all,
A coolish start to the day with some sun and clouds. 11⁰ at the moment.
Our son is calling in today, and we are going to borrow his partners Mini Cooper for a while. The garage we went to yesterday couldn't resolve the problem with our Fiesta, they changed the plugs and coil packs , but said it could be the wet belt, or the injectors, but has advised us that because of the type of engine it has, the wet belt version, an excellent engine but with an inherent problem with yhe timing belt, when things go wrong, then they are exceptionally expensive to put right, so he advised us to get shot of the car before any warning lights come on.😮
MrsP has already started looking at newish cars for sale.

Is it the 3 cylinder eco boost ( bang ) engine ? If so it doesn’t have the best reputation for reliability. I’ve need thinking of changing my car ( a Peugeot 308 diesel with 90,000 miles on it that I left peugeot with in 2019 ) and a Ford Puma was top of the list until I did some research.
If the worst does happen and it does go bang it might be worth contacting Ford directly.
Ford used to be very hard with extended warranty claims on the wet belt engines unless you could show a complete service record done at Ford dealerships you had no chance . But more recently, because of the bad publicity, they are more open to claims .

My car is showing the engine warning light. Its only orange so could be something or nothing.
My cleaner is a clever and very handy young woman who does all her own mechanical repairs. She used one of those plug in gizmos which says its a problem with catalytic doodah.....so, she has cancelled the warning light and I will keep an eye on it.

Could be a blocked Catalytic converter, which means it may fail the next MOT, if so can be very expensive. Cost us £1500 to replace it and the sensors on Mrs Gunks old Mini.

Yes, my cleaner said something similar.
Its a 65 plate with less than 20K on the clock so I'm loathe to get rid of it but maybe its time to reconsider.

I already pay Sky around a tenner a month just for the privilege of having a Sky puck in my bedroom as well. I can only watch one at a time. Sadly it's on a contract rather than a rolling monthly thing so not even any point cancelling it until the contract is up. I wouldn't pay for it again as I rarely watch tv in the bedroom any more, and if I do it's often just Youtube or something on iplayer, etc which the tv can get anyway. Bloody rip off.

Chuck a bottle of Cataclean in half a tank of fuel and do an Italian tune up (take it for a high speed thrash) sometimes does the trick

I use it maybe 3 times a week.
I have a mobility scooter from when I couldnt walk (seems so long ago now).
I'm not ready to stop driving yet though.

I'd happily give mine up as I don't enjoy driving much now but there's always the odd occasion it's still handy. May have a rethink when I have to renew my licence at 70.
