Is it the 3 cylinder eco boost ( bang ) engine ? If so it doesn’t have the best reputation for reliability. I’ve need thinking of changing my car ( a Peugeot 308 diesel with 90,000 miles on it that I left peugeot with in 2019 ) and a Ford Puma was top of the list until I did some research.
If the worst does happen and it does go bang it might be worth contacting Ford directly.
Ford used to be very hard with extended warranty claims on the wet belt engines unless you could show a complete service record done at Ford dealerships you had no chance . But more recently, because of the bad publicity, they are more open to claims .

I'd happily give mine up as I don't enjoy driving much now but there's always the odd occasion it's still handy. May have a rethink when I have to renew my licence at 70.

I recently renewed mine.....once past 70 it needs doing every 3 years iirc.
I want to keep my independence as long as poss so my shopping trips etc are good for me.
I also have 3 hospital trips in the next few weeks and they are 20 mile round trips.

This wet belt idea hasn’t proved to be a good one . They were supposed to last the life of the car , they don’t and now need to be replaced after a set mileage , which is also expensive as you have to dismantle half the engine .
Peugeot also have an engine with a similar design and they have very similar problems but at least they have an inspection hatch so you can visually check the state of the belt. This has put me off them too which is a shame as I still get discount off new ones.
I’ve narrowed my long list of replacements down to, some thing from Toyota self charging hybrid ranges , Yaris, Corolla or maybe even a CH-R if I want safe, reliable, economical but slightly boring or if I want something a little more exciting to drive maybe a Seat Leon fr or and Audi A3 s both are still available in petrol and diesel as well hybrids . Not surprising as they are the same car underneath.
But the way I am feeling I might just kick the can down the road for another year, if the mot goes well, as it would mean I would end up with my current car having 100, 000 on the clock and I’ve never owned a car with that many miles on it 😀

If it wasn't for MrsP i wouldn't have a car in and london. We have excellent buses, most run frequently right up to past midnight, some are 24 hour services, underground and train services. Plus a lot of the time I use my bike whilst I am still able to.
If all else fails there are always plenty of taxis and Ubers around.

Yes, my cleaner said something similar.
Its a 65 plate with less than 20K on the clock so I'm loathe to get rid of it but maybe its time to reconsider.

My GranDad had a Morris 1800

it was a nice car and he looked after it - always clean and he drove very carefully

He didn;t see the point in doing over 50 ever
and 30 was enough for him a lot of the times

My Uncle was a Motor Mechanic and all his working life he had mostly worked on big engines such as tractors and the like
Subtle was not a word he was very familiar with!!

He said to us once that my GranDad was always very garteful when he serviced his car as it was always massively better after and no otehr mechanic ever got it going so well
My Uncle told us after that the main thing he did was to take it onto the local motorway and put it in third and floor the accelerator and not change to 4th until a long time after normal
he reckoned there were birds nests and all sorts blown out of the exhaust


your might need the same treatment once in a while

but don;t blame me if it breaks it - my knowldeg of cars is as good as my typing!
