Mirni g all.
A bit damp out there today.
Another slight improvement i the .incers. I find it more encouraging to compare them to last Thursday than to last night as the improvement is slow.
I got a dhort stroll in yesterday, about 1 mile, wearing sunglasses for the glare.
Chill day in store.
Have a good day peeps.

Chopper Read, another good Aussie bloke who no doubt used to send flowers to his Mum.
Spent a lot of time inside and carked it from liver failure in 2013

Mike, I might have asked this already (probably have) but are you a relocated Pom or 2nd/3rd generation Oz ?
And...... what made you or your forefathers relocate.
I think Burglat Pete would have been shifted over there quite quickly (if Drago is tp be believed).

To be fair, he was a bit of a bad but for the most part he kept hks adtivities among fellow sheet bags and not the wider public. In the end he refused a liver transplant, saying the organ should do to someone more deserving.

And I have more in the way of ears than he did!

I live in a nice, quiet low crime suburb on the edge of town. I believe our man Gunkers used to live not far from here at one time. Burglar Pete lives in a fairly quiet spot on the other side of toon.

Bought up in Weston Favell (the nice bit) and lived until 2000 in Boughton, however we had a rental property near Hunsbury. My brother still lives in Kingsthorpe so still visit for time to time. Just so sad to see the decline of the town, it was never amazing but now it’s shocking.

Ah, he'll be on Burglar Pete's list for a visit! ;)

Aye, large swathes of it are indeed pretty dire. It does have its nicer pockets but as pleasant as it is here I do sometimes feel like I'm living under siege. I guess having seen the seedier side fog the place, of which there is plenty, hasn't helped. A lot of bobbies and ex-bobbies in this corner, which demonstrates that its a tiny santuary, and enclave if you will.

Just waiting for Mrs D to retire then we can finally move, but the other day she made an alarming comment about hanging on until she's 60!

I’m fortunate that even though I’m now semi retired (still work two days a week for myself) we don‘t really want to live anywhere else, possibly central London which we have talked about, but Oxford is a fantastic city to live in and we are also right on the edge of the Cotswolds so it is best of both worlds. Just be nice to have the coast a bit closer.

I'm not a townie, can't really stand any of them, this is the first own i've properly lived in (I had a flat in MK when I was in the army but was barely there) in a proper urban area.

Mrs D has agreed to the Peak District as our final destinnation. Lovely, out the way but fairly central. She could retire tomorrow, we don't need the money, but she thinks pushing herself keeps the MS at bay so she stays at it, and working in education means she gets plenty of time off. Downside is she's a decade younger than me so I could be 70 by the time shes finished. I don't think she'll go that long, but I may have to grit my teeth if she does.

If you read on the news about a mysterious murder in Hardingstone you'll know I've finally snapped

That’s sad to hear . My daughter loved her time in halls in kingsthorpe and we always thought it looked a nice place when we visited. It was the old Kingsthorpe campus and the interview she had there that made her choose Northampton uni in the first place.
After all anyplace that has a Waitrose cannot be all bad 😂😀

Fortunately the A45 acts as a nice physical barrier to keep the worst of the filth at bay.

The Uni is such a nice place it has its own permanent police team on site! It's to go to place for drugs. I'm surprised any of them actually leave with a parchment.

I always thought the A43 Lumbertubs Way running alongside the Weston Favell centre was like the Berlin Wall, it really is a completely different world east of that road!
