Mike, I might have asked this already (probably have) but are you a relocated Pom or 2nd/3rd generation Oz ?
And...... what made you or your forefathers relocate.
I think Burglat Pete would have been shifted over there quite quickly (if Drago is tp be believed).

Relocated Sarf Efrican.
Worked in London 1968-1971 after i got my Chartered Accountants ticket.
Came to Oz in 1978 so have spent more of my life in Oz than SA

Ride this afternoon - to the airport

When I go there I ride around the back and to the control tower

going there I passed a bit of the perimeter fence behind a gap in the bushes
and as I passed it a hawk startled and flew off

Then later on, on the way back from teh Tower
I saw it again
It had clearly annoyed some crows that were mobbing it


it managed to dodge one attack and ended up above the crows
one of the crows was apart from the others and the hawk dived down at it
it dodged and got away

but the rest of them got REALLY annoyed and drove it off


great to watch!!

Seen the same with Rooks mobbing a Buzzard v.high above the house. They were relentless and the Buzzard eventually departed.

Ahh yes, I recall the sarf efrica part now. Strange, so many brits sought a better life in south Africa while you chased your dream to Oz.

Not as bad as I expected. Very little 'irritation/grit' as I was warned about so I'm grateful for that.
