Well it's another chilly but beautiful day here, about 6°C when I got up and about 8°C now, just like yesterday a blue sky and sunshine. As I had been tidying the house and garden most of the week, I decided to have a day out yesterday and went to Newburgh to see if there were any seal pups at Forvie Sands, a bit early but you never know. Well they might have but they were all out on the spite of sand at the far end so even with binoculars it was hard to tell. So I had to make do with the eiders, a black-throated diver and a few seals swimming in the estuary.

Went to bed very late last night so having coffee & Kindle in bed whilst the house warms up. It was only 16.5°C at around 9am this morning and the preferred temperature is around 21°C.

Might have a mooch around the village when we finally get up to see how things go with my knee.

Enjoy the bright & sunny day, all.

Barnet,
Good morning. It was dark when I got up. My watch was out of battery. It was mild. Staggered downstairs to discover it was 06.35, I went to bed a 21.25 last night. Nine hours sleep with only one pee stop! Stuck my head out of the back door to discover it's not mild, the CH has been on all night. Expensive but cosy.

Today? Well I'm mentally reinvigorated. I had a really shi!t time last weekend and early part of last week. Oddly this seems to have done me a lot of good. Yesterday and again today for the first time in ages I feel ready to do stuff. Next up is morning stretches, then two or three hours on the allotment preparing for winter. I'll plant the shallots and garlic if there's time. #2SP is coming for a sleepover so we will bob down to Manchester to collect her about 3.00pm.

I read a report in the Independent (once a quality paper) earlier of the things the NHS had to extract from patients bottoms. This was from 2022 data. These included a wallpaper scraper, tree branch, coat hanger, hard boiled egg, bank card, TV remote and razor blades  I'll leave you all to Google the full list!!!!!! You gotta wonder about the folk who did this and the "journalist" who requested the data under the Freedom of Information Act. An utter waste of time and effort for some poor NHS admin person.

A good friend of ours was a radiographer at a large London Hospital, once had to take Xrays of a quite famous person in the 1970's who had inserted a milk bottle into his anus. And not the top end first. 😮
It had to be filled with plaster of paris first before attempting removal so that it didn't break on the way out.
She also told us of people swallowing coins and other metal objects, which then had to be surgically removed.

I am enjoying grilled cheese and tomatoes right now then I'm off for a stroll, probably about 2 miles.
This sun hurts my eyes so I have to wear sunglasses but the only ones I have are prescription which no longer suit my sight.
After that I will watch the footy which is Utd away to Leeds......v'mon you Leeeeds ^_^

Just catching up with GoggleBox

They were doing one where the normal people are watching Strictly Come Dancing

The old er Welsh couple come on
and the wife says "Why don;t you throw me around like that"
you could SEE the bloke's mind coming up with several options and opting for
"Because I'm 71"

Nice choice mate - I could see the other options in his head!!!

I used to enjoy baguette with cheese and tuna melt. Not had that for ages.

On occasion when we were under a bit of pressure at work my colleague would head to the shops and come back with a couple of baguettes, a block of mature cheddar and a Spanish onion. He'd then fill them with chunky wedges of cheese and thick slices of onion. It gave us a break as it took so long to munch our way through them.

A bit like "does this dress make me look fat"? .....the answer depends on how much he enjoys hospital food.

When i was 18 (a few years ago) my mate and I would start some nights out at a pub called the Nags Head. I still remember the crusty baguettes** filled with cheese and onion.....they were special.
**I dont think we were posh enough to call them baguettes back then.
