Is there a 'cheapest' place to get a reliable battery ie one that's not going to set fire to the house ?
Mind you, i dont have a clue how to replace it.

I just look on the WWW
but then have to check it is a decent - proper source

but after that it is a few screws - which are often hidden - and a few more screws inside
which are slightly less likely to be hidden
then a tiny cable that need unplugging
then reverse it all and all is done

probably

I would do it for my wife - or maybe the grandkids if they didn;t use iPads (only the Gods know how they work inside)

but beyond that I would need to make sure the person understood it was up to them and I can probably do it Ok but there is a chance of it not working and all that
I have done that for a neighbour a couple of times

AgeUK would go crazy if one of us tried that under their umbrella!!!

I was thinking earlier ( a rarity, I know) that of all the different cars I've owned only 5 had a boot. The rest have been hatchbacks..
Austin 1100
Austin A40 Devon 1952
Toyota Crown V1 2.8 straight 6
BMW 2002
Rover P6 ex-plod car

And 1 estate car, a Datsun Cherry(?) bought from the dodgy garage on Newport Pagnell road for £100

I’ve only ever had two cars with a boot, both short term company cars, a Cavalier LX back in 1988 and a Passat CC back 2009, mainly had estates and hatchbacks, Ì just prefer them.

@Dirk I was just reading about the international sand bike racing a Weston Super Mare. It says there were over 1,000 bikes competing.
Does that sport interest you ?
As a lad I remember watching it at New Brighton......that must have been late 50s/early 60s.
Edit
Just read that at NB it went into the 70s.

Not really my scene from a racing point of view. Sand is a real destroyer of machinery and a bugger to ride through.
I've had mates who rode in the beach race and I've spectated a few times over the years.

I some times caught that when they did it between New Brighton and Moreton

I could sometime hear it from my house and a couple of times I packed the dog into the car and went down there to watch it
the dog was rather confused about there noisy things racing around prime seagull hunting grounds!

but it was quite amazing and looked pretty informal in terms of course set up - as, of course, the track was set up and taken down over high tdide
