Morning all. 8° and wet here (not that I can see out).
Hospital this morning for a check up on the new eyes. A letter tells me not to drive because of the drops they will use.....my neighbour is taking me. Like many hospitals the parking is horrendous so we have that to negotiate.

Good Morning from a sunny Dorset. Mrs Tkk tells me that she was wakened by the sound of heavy rain just after midnight while I slept through it. I did my usual waking early and pondering whilst waiting for sensible O'clock, then rise and make the first coffee of the day.
Heating season is here, I'm trying a new strategy of boosting the heat to 21degrees overnight during the cheap (er) electricity period, then dropping the temperature back to 20 when the cheap period is over, using the fabric of the building as a virtual storage heater🤔

Appears that I have volunteered to give a talk to a "Coffee and Chat" group in Runcorn this morning
I was told it was a nice group
then that it is "quite a big group"
then that they are quite loud
then that they didn;t ask for this and will probably want to get on with the quiz and stuff
not sure how it will go
but surely they cannot be worse that a class of 14 year old kids
can they???
anyway - whatever

I don't know where you live, but that seems quite high, I had a full rewire done when I did up the house after talking to the electrician about some of the dodgy electrics I had noticed around the place. He also installed all the new lights, fitted a power shower, wired in all the kitchen appliances and move some of the sockets around fitting new socket boxes and faceplates to all the sockets and switches, he also rerouted the sky cable for me as the sky installer wouldn't go into the loft and feed it down the bare studwork between the living room and the hall. All this was a couple of years ago and I know prices have gone up but I was less than half your lower quote.

Morning all
Well, the chimney sweep couldn't do the job yesterday because the gas fire needed moving, so she could access the flue. She's arranging for a gas engineer to accompany her on the next visit, which she is currently arranging.
