That can be the problem, when things go wrong and you need them sorted yesterday, the price can go up. I've always been quite lucky most of the houses I've bought have needed restoration done, some more than others which means I normally have some pretty big jobs for various trades people and I always work with local ones as they are unlikely to do a bad job in the area they live. Which means I normally build up a rapport with them. I always pay promptly and make sue that there is always plenty tea/coffee and bikkies and on a Friday Mrs T would normally have a home baked cake for their 3 0'clocks.That’s what what I was thinking , the contractor emergency electrician that came out to me on Tuesday said it should cost in the 5 to 6 grand range and said not to use the company that had sent him as they would charge over £12000 and they did .
The thing is I am sat here with only two electric radiators to heat the house so I need it doing asap and the £9000 quote electrician can do it in the next couple of weeks and even though I was impressed with him , I think he has inflated the price because of this . Oh well I’ve got two more electricians coming to day to quote and another one on Monday so we will see what they quote .
To be honest the electrician coming on Monday is our preferred option as he knows mrs exlaser and he has done work at the sailing club too but the problem with him is he cannot start work until the 23th of November.
Good luck with getting the work done quickly and without costing an arm and a leg, and on the bright side at least you have some power.
