Morning

or whatever time of day it is
rather confused - brain says one time but the clocks say another

but i have changed them all now - quite impressed that I remembered how to do them all

and that the bedroom one changed itself only 5 hours late - it has been known to go a week before doing it
although over the last few years it does seem to have managed it within a few hours - I think something has changed

Just been watching videos of ferries coming into port over the last day or so

reminded me of coming home from a holiday in Ireland when I was a kid
we drove up to Dublin from the far South of Eire
and the weather was terrible

when we got to the harbour we were told to park on the quey in the waiting area - where we parked we had a great view of the water
We were told that the boat was running late - by a few hours

as always my Mum was prepared and we had sandwiches and biscuits and drink ready just in case
so we just sat there eating, reading and my Dad kept the radio on to get weather reports and news

When the Ferry cam in it was quite steady - but the lifeboats were all out ready!!

then another bloke came down the queue telling everyone that the boat was in (I think they must have had to put in an order for more short straws the next day!!)
but it would still take a while as the crew had to clean up the boat before we got on
he said the was a lot of sickness on board

discussion between the queuing cars suggested that everyone was quite happy to wait until "the boat was clean"
especially as the weather was set to get better over the next few hours!!!

I don't have gas but I'm thinking of getting something electric to heat the front room. I'm less fussy about temperature than Mrs P. When I start to fly solo again I may only want to heat the front room. I'll use the multi fuel stove to provide background heat for the rest of the house. Our energy bill is mind-blowing. It's an economy waiting to be made.

We’ve got this big boy!

Still very windy here. Some rain, too.

Had a miserable night. I don't normally suffer at all from my covid & flu jabs, not even achey arms where the jabs go in. Had both yesterday.

But last night I awoke at 4am with a pounding headache, painful eyes, blocked nose and a hurty arm (covid jab side) - assuming this was a bit of a reaction.

All symptoms gone this morning, which seems strange.

No plans today, some leaf clearing on the cards later in the week plus some Budget whinging, no doubt.

Have a safe day all and keep away from trees whilst the wind is blowing hard!

In case you dont know....electric fires are governed to a maximum 2.0 kw**. My previous one that died was 1.8 and this 2.0 makes a noticeable difference.
**the choice for them is quite limited.

Never got to the drum show. No trains seemingly could get there to/from MCR. Services from Piccadilly and Victoria didn't happen so called it quits. Don't get a refund because I bought the wrong kind of ticket for the wrong kind of weather.

It's the overspill and influence from Hebden Bridge which has long been a remarkable centre of counter-culture. Last time I was in Todd I was surprised by the number of interesting places that have opened up.

Ramsbottom is another place. Food heaven. We've been visiting The Drop Off for 15+ years. Wonderful place. At the top of a bloody big hill mind. But if you're in Ramsbottom search out Loafi. Out of this world. Loafi *** UPDATE! Fixed the link.

And no visit to Rammy is complete without The Rake.

interesting fact about Hebden Bridge. It's known as the UK lesbian capital. +/- 10% of the population identify as LGBTQ. There you go. Every day's a school day.

*** I tell you cycling with my little group is a grand tour of the finest cafes and bakeries Lancashire, Yorkshire as well, has to offer.

Didn't know about Loafi but my bus pass or bicycle will facilitate widening my knowledge. ColinJ of this parish has long cavorted around Hebden Bridge
