Had a nice carnic - Mrs SD made some nice snacks. We found a nice, scenic spot and had a great Kindle session. Very restful.

I have been pottering in my workroom.

And I now have a ginger cake in the oven. I haven't made one for about 3 years. If the bin walks in he will smell it right away.

Just back from the Poole beer festival. Seven of us and we all bring food. There's Kev the Cornishman who's quite a gifted baker, Welsh Mike who brought almond croissants, Big Bob who brought sod all but ate loads etc. My Yorkshire Parkin was a huge hit, universally praised for the depth of its ginger, ( proper ginger used instead of powdered, a pinch of Cardamom and nutmeg etc ). Next effort will be to use the same recipe, but remember to add the beaten eggs to the mix ğ

So
flat tyre that was fixed then not

Gave up and decided to walk to teh LBS and get him to fix it

WHen I got it back from him he said he found a broken thorn in the tyre which must have caused the puncture I fixed
and there was another one that was sticking right through the tyre

It must have been in the half I didn;t look at because I had already found the hold and fixed the puncture it caused
but there was another one - but the goo in the tube has sealed it
but when I put the tube back in I had removed all the goo (it only lasts a year or so)
and doing so broke the seal it had created and then there was another bigger hole

because it was fine after I fixed the first hold and teh hold in the tyre was empty when I checked

anyway - all fixed and I have a new tube

Always run your finger around the inside of the tyre before replacing the inner tube.

Hello strangers!
World Tour 2026 has moved on…5 fab days in Singapore was followed by 10 days with family who live near Kuranda, in the hills above Cairns. What a crazy hill-billy lifestyle they have 🤣
Really lovely people, but stuff everywhere, including 3 Landies in the trees in defo non-running order 😂
7 acres around them, so big tools needed 💪
Waking up to feed their chooks, watch the wallabies on their “garden”, listen to the many birds - Merlin app found 31 during our time there, including some trips out 👌
Highlights would include Hartley’s Crocodile adventures (where they have around 3,500 😱), the crazy Undara Lava Tubes & plenty of good banter, including with the very healthy 91-year old Auntie from whom ancestry info was gleaned & who insisted we return for her 100th 🤞

Now on a slow train ride down to Brisbane with 3 stop offs: today is the second, with a full day ahead over at the Whitsunday’s, & the forecast is thundery showers all day 🫣

Sadly been told of 3 friends who have passed away since we have been gone: two to cancer & one suicide, which was hard for a bunch of us to understand….a couple of people had seen him in the two weeks prior and not spotted anything untoward 😔

To partially counter those, the cousin’s daughter had a baby girl the day after we arrived, which was nice: she had stayed with us for many weeks when she was younger, so we managed to spring her for babies first lunch out after a week 👶
