Approaching a blind bend at speed, you kept on peddling into danger, rather than anticipating it.
Next time, when you are approaching a similar bend that might hide a similar obstruction, remember to feather the brakes a little, comb the road and verges for potential danger, and hen if there is a problem, you can wing it without being accused of fowl play.
