I watched The Rutles (All You Need is Cash) last night. You may consider the Beatles overrated or not, but you have to admit they stocked the newspapers with material for a good eight years. There were the songs, the films, the changes of style, the controversies, the stunts, the love lives. I mean if Neil Innes and Eric Idle had decided to parody Coldplay, they would not have had as much material to work with.

Mick Jagger was a good sport in that film.

Nah, more Sgt Pepper/Magical Mystery Tour. Get up and go would be more in line with Abbey Road.

Don't forget Neil Innes was big mates with George Harrison though (as were the Pythons) and he was heavily involved in 'Handmade Films' (in fact it could have been George's company originally)

I was lucky enough to have a chat with Neil a couple of years ago after he'd played at the Guildhall in Leicester, lovely bloke with a wealth of tales (quite a lot involving Viv Stanshall and Keith Moon)

Coincidentally... i watched it the night before last too.
Bought the LP on vinyl last week.
And got me a ticket for their upcoming Morecambe gig a couple of weeks ago.

If anyone asks if i like the Beatles, i always reply "I prefer the Rutles" :okay:

Neil has an incredible talent.

Life of Brian would never have been made without George Harrison.
