Great to hear that due to the good weather our local farms may have the gorgeous spartan variety of apples in sooner than expected. It's a personal fav next to the faithful braeburns. We're really lucky to have a few organic farms locally who are very reasonably priced.

We're keen foragers in our house and a big fans of local produce.

What's your favourite apple?

My favourite apple is Discovery.
My dad enjoys apple growing. I had one of his Discovery the other day. Very nice. I got him a variety called Katy a couple of years ago and it has fruited well again this year. He messes around with grafting and has some trees that actually have three or four varieties on them.

Not a huge Apple fan, though the kids eat Royal Gala and my good lady Braeburns. We have an apple tree in the garden, they're strictly cookers but very nice in a pie or crumble. I'm a pear man myself, and at the moment I'm on Williams, very nice when ripe but do bruise very easily.

There was an article in a newspaper I was reading at my parents this morning about a bloke who had an apple tree with about 75 billion different varieties (something like that, it may have been slightly fewer) growing on it. We've got a Discovery tree in our garden and that can't even produce any apples at all.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
We have braeburn (not sure how it's spelt) apple trees. Nice small apples.
