Shortly after two of ours got run over, a cat they used to "play" with took up residence in the hedge at the end of our terrace and used to mope around our house. This continued for some time until it was clear she was going nowhere, but we'd decided it wouldn't be fair to get another so soon.
Then one day when SophRM was out I took pity on the wee beastie and let her in for a play in the living room, only to be caught cat handed by an unexpectedly early arrival home due to a forgotten purse.
A statistic I'm fond of repeating is that there are reckoned to be about 7 million domestic cats in Britain and 10 million families who think they own a cat.
"Owners of dogs will have noticed that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they will think you are god. Whereas owners of cats are compelled to realize that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they draw the conclusion that they are gods."
First the mother came (foreground) then she had a litter, one died and the two behind are her kittens. They are feral so very wary at first but now they let me handle them. Always begging for food but they hunt at night and eat lizards and frogs. They are much bigger than the other cats around due to the feeding I give them.
