Dilemma of the day...

Can I be bothered to fit my pair of 38mm 45nrth Gravdal spiked tyres to my hybrid and go for a short ride in the rare Hampshire snow?

They would fit my ebike too, but the rear wheel is more faff for something that won't be needed for long.

Or do I just look out of the window every now and again throughout the day and think how lovely it looks, while I'm nice and warm inside, perhaps doing the odd bit of cycling on the turbo trainer?

I really don't miss working outside in weather like this, not that it happened often, but being on delivery for 4-5 hours in subzero is no fun!

We have a smattering of snow here, full coverage but only a couple millimeters thick.
Kids were out playing in it just before we left for school.
Perhaps someone in Scotland can correct me (but I siluspect it won't be neccessary), the forecast on BBC 1 the other day usednthe words 'DESTRUCTIVE weather' when discussing 40cm off snow. That'd be a fair bit in most people's worlds but in Scotland ?
Was it a usual case of the media hyping it all out of context?

Just been out to get some shopping

Not too bad - only 2 ***heads!

One was a van coming up behind me faster than me - I was driving on thick slush and heading for a red light that had just gone read
and doing about 17 - no idea why he though doing 30 was a good idea!

next was a Greggs VERY near a busy junction - it feed in to the main road on the left but a lot of the traffic wants to go right

I normally just wait
but a bloke in a van (another one!) decided he "needed" to get out of Greggs and onto the road and if he was in the wrong lane and on snow/ice it would be all OK if he was signalling right
from the middle lane

luckily, someone with a brain let him in
thus meaning the rest of us in the queue missed the lights and had to wait
which is better than a crash but

anyway - good luck to everyone

In Plymouth, the decking and patio is still like an ice rink. Ironically I went out in my slippers and didn't slip. Then went out in my trainers and slipped a lot.

Funnily enough I have swapped from my proper walking shoes to my cheap trainers

They have more grip on icy surfaces
Including wet shiny floors in shops!

Funny sensationalist news article on the BBC saying that schools have closed and there is widespread disruption.....in Northern Scotland. Not exactly a region famed for it's year-round heat waves is it

Nor famed for snow disruption either. The dump is somewhat heavier than usual.

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
A couple of flakes of snow just fell in London. But it didn't continue. It was -5 last night which is a bit chilly.

It's starting to melt up here. Absolutely frozen solid this morning - started both cars to de-ice them. Drove to get milk in MrsF's car with Cross Climate tyres, so that was fine. Very slippy under foot. Fortunately, we've had a bit of rain and it's thawing quickly. We've had meetings put on-line but I suspect the snow will all be gone by tomorrow !

We had another token gesture of snowfall this morning, adding to the one yesterday that stuck overnight, still not much more than one flake deep...

But now the temperature has risen to 3C+, it's rapidly all vanishing.
