the union jack and Scotland

my 14 year old asked this question , if Scotland becomes an independent country will they have left the uk . if so will the blue part of the flag be taken out as they would not be apart of the uk anymore . i was not sure myself . anyone know .

No idea officially. Although since it is an icon way beyond being a national flag I suspect it will survive rather like the Confederate flag has.

Take Saint Patricks Cross out & its all that will be left. Assuming we remove Saint Andrews Cross from it.

Why aren't the Welsh bothered about being represented on the Union flag? I think a dragon in the middle would be quite nifty!

have St George's cross, but with lower half with green background (for Wales) and slap the Welsh dragon thingy on top of it.

Cos they are only a Principality rather than a country.

1. I'm sure it would survive - as said it's become more than just a national flag. probably would become rare in Scotland.
2. I'm confident that the Scots will say no. It would save us from being a one party Tory state this side of the border, but the downside is that we'll have to go on subsidising them.

If the vote is yes can we have verse 6 of the national anthem sung at all future England v Scotland sports fixtures?
