I had a 1984 Cavalier SRi, which at the time I thought was a great car. It was one of the "Made in Belgium" versions with alloys and proper Recaro seats; much better than the later ones which were British built. The one scary incident I had with it was when one of the fuel hoses to a fuel injector split on the M8 motorway, spraying petrol over the engine. How it didn't catch fire, I'll never know.
My mate had a mk1 Astra GTE with the same engine (1.8 petrol) and I always wanted one of them, but never got around to it.

Edit.... Just found a photo of the identical twin of the one I had...

My mate had the GTE astra mk2 faf but torque steer was shocking..
i prefered my pug gti

A 205? They were the ultimate performance hatch (not including golf). 1.9 was preferred but 1.6 was great too.

Yeah, GTE had huge torque steer. Even though it was rubbish, I had a bit of a soft spot for XR3i and RS Turbo. Golf was the most refined out of all of them though.

I do like Vauxhalls...
We have a 1993 Vauxhall Corsa 1.0 that died recently.. Were not sure exactly how many miles it has done as the Odometer doesn't work and hasn't since we had it. But we know that we have done 100,000 in it since weve had it easily.. It spat its dummy out and blew out two spark plugs the other day and has been replaced with a pug diesel. Ill be keeping it and putting another engine into it eventually though.

Granddad has always had Vauxhall Cavaliers for aslong as I can remember. Hes had a MK3 Cavalier in burgundy for the past 15 years and its going strong with well over 200,000 miles on it too

I took delivery of my brand new Zafira yesterday - 15 miles on the clock. It's red.

To my mind, if it were a woman, it would be Kim Wilde - of today, not 1981. Overweight, ok looking from the right angle if a bit plain. But very practical and useful.

If anyone ever sees me behind the wheel of a Vauxhall of any kind would they please shoot me in the head. Thanks.

My choice of company car was an Insignia, a BMW 1 Series or an Audi A3. I needed something to take a powered wheelchair in the back so had to argue for the Zafira.
