Took my car to the car wash for a much needed clean this morning. I pull off the road, into the queue, following a chap in a Renault Megane. We've been there for about 3 minutes, when car in front of the Megane decides to change his mind and starts messing around trying to turn his car around, gesticulates to chap in Megane, who decides to reverse without looking in his mirror and straight into the front of my car, stupid idiot :cursing::cursing::cursing::cursing::cursing::cursing::cursing:

I could see it happening and hammered my hand on the horn but the numpty didn't even seem to know what day it was, when I asked him if he'd lost the use of his eyes.

It had pushed the front bumper and plastic grill quite a long way back, but he was determined that it wasn't to go through insurance and he would pay for any damage

Took the car up to Honda and they had a look at it and couldn't see any damage. Hopefully the metal bar that sits behind the bumper has absorbed the impact.

I've logged it with my insurance company just in case

Sorry to hear this - be careful though as plastic bumpers are designed to regain their shape after an impact and can look pretty OK whilst hiding a surprising amount of damage.

Yesterday (sorry I'm a day late again...)

If you're a Costco member you'll know that it's Trade members only Mon - Fri before noon.
Except yesterday, when apparently that doesn't apply despite it being the most well known FRIDAY of the year.
Cue the place being full of wandering people who've decided to go there for a morning out. :banghead:

Yes agree on that. Aiming to head back up there on Tuesday, when the body shop are back in, to ask them to take bumper off and check everything ok behind it.

Last week: Lidl had cycling glasses in at a low price. I bought a pair with smoked lenses the previous time, and a pair with yellow lenses the time before that. I already owned a pair with clear lenses. I thought about buying another pair with clear lenses because I might need them one day, but decided not to bother since I have too much cycling kit and don't want to have to squeeze even more into miscellaneous drawers and boxes. The glasses sold out.

Today: I stood on my sofa to reach up and change a light bulb. I jumped down and ...

... crushed my clear cycling glasses! :cursing:

Personally I wouldn't do that. Anything that constitutes 'an incident' has a nasty habit of pushing your premiums up, even if (as in this case) it was absolutely not your fault. That's just the way the industry works. I like to be able to just go 'no', 'no', 'no' all the way down. I'm not criticising, you understand, just saying, if it was me I'd keep the buggers out of it if at all possible.

The west to east divide, having just driven across the country I get a real feeling of how scruffy dirty and untidy Lincolnshire is, along with certainly the worst roads.
Cumbria has officially the worst pothole in Britain:

Tricky one, this. If you look in your T&Cs you will probably find that as part of the contract you are required to notify them of any 'incidents', whether subject to a claim or not. You should report *everything*, but then they decide you are a higher risk (even though you haven't claimed) and put your premiums up. But if you don't, you run the risk of a) having your insurance cancelled if they find out, and therefore having to declare that on every insurance application for the rest of your life and maybe not get insurance at all, or b) the other driver talks to someone down the pub, and suddenly decides it was your fault and he and six passengers all have whiplash from the impact, and want to claim off your insurance ... who know nothing about it.

I have had a couple of minor nudges that have been settled by a few quid changing hands and nothing more said, and realistically nobody reports every single knock to their insurers. But you should be aware that there are risks involved with this approach. A lot of it rests on how much you trust the other driver to play it straight. If I were in any doubt about that, I would report it to my insurers immediately, and put up with the higher premiums if that happened. (It doesn't always.)

I see what you are saying, but in this day and age all it takes is an ambulance chasing lawyer to contact the other driver and suddenly there is a whiplash claim for him and his passenger and away we go! That's the reason I have it recorded. If they push my premium up I always move insurance company.

The digital light timer that I bought from a well known DIY store has been charging all night but still has no display on it. Will have to take that back then
