I sounds that you are attracted to the planet x more for the money saving rather than what it will provide for you.

There are lots of good touring bikes or bikes that can be made into touring bikes to suit you. The Genesis croix de fer has a lot of supporters.

One of my touring bikes is a Koga Roadchamp. It wasn't designed as a tourer but works really well.

As you're in Bradford, nip across to Harrogate and see what the people at Spa can do.

Yes, and if I had £1500+ to spend on "normal" bike then I'd talk to Ellis Briggs too, I don't think their hand built (to suit you) randonneur would cost much more, then you'd own a "special" bike

Yeah, right ..
nice steel frame
colour matched mudguards and rack
decent wheels and transmission
bar end shifters
cable disc brakes

only downside is the silly propriety stem, which takes five mins to swap.

That young @iLB is riding one to India as I type.

A nice bike , and all that a tourer may want , however your comment " End of " does indicate that this Jamis is absolute , Many may argue that it is not ,
It wasn't entirely unironic. As a touring bike it was certainly "End of." when I bought mine. ;)

If you nip across to the For Sale section I have a fully loaded 2012 Dawes Horizon Plus Reynolds 520 tourer for £300.

I'm in Rotherham, so about an hour from Bradford.
